Biggest creep you could ever imagine. This guy Keefer will bill you for services never performed and then get angry for questioning him. He is an alarmist and opportunist. Other vets in town know of Creeper's reputation. Stay clear of this weirdo! more

I'm looking for a place to board my dog over the holidays. I find it curious that all of the old reviews are negative. All of the new ones are 5* but this is the only review that all of the posters made. Also they all say that no one tried to sell them any services they didn't need, while the old posts said just the opposite. I'll keep looking for a boarder. more

I really like this clinic! I received a coupon in the mail for grooming, so I figured I would try them out! I have show dogs, and even when they are not showing I am VERY pick about how they are groomed. I am not ashamed to say that past groomers have asked me not to come back because I am so picky. The girl at the location at 151st and Nall did an AMAZING job on my dogs. I sent 3 to her all in one day, she was fast, gentle, and just really GOOD! My dogs were not current on shots, so I had that updated while we were there. I met both doctors and they were both very good, and easy to work with. Never did they talk down to me, or try to sell me product or services that I did not need. I would recommend this clinic to anyone looking for the best in the Johnson County area! more

I have been to COUNTLESS veterinarians through KS and MO, looking for the perfect fit. I called the office, and Dr. Keffer spoke to me personally, and answered all of my questions. He is very knowledgable about so many aspects of animal care, not just standard vaccine protocol. \r He is an orthopedic specialist, and since my breed is prone to hip dysplasia I wanted someone that could care for him his entire life. He never ONCE came off as cocky or rude, just very knowledgable and up to speed on current practices and protocols. His facility is SPOTLESS, from the minute you walk into the door all the way to the doggie play yard. I have never seen an outdoor play yard that is SO clean!\r He never tried to convince me of unnecessary tests, medications, or proceedures. Dr. Keefer came highly recommended. My dog had both knees blown out. Dr. Keefer is certified to do the highly technical and innovative TPLO surgery that my dog required. So far he is recovering very well, better than we expected. I am amazed at the skill and knowledge that this doctor has, my regular vet could not do the surgery (most can't). He left his house for 3 night to go check on our boy while he was recovering at the clinic, he called and let us know how he was doing. What more can you ask? He did not try to sell us anything we didn't need, he even consulted with my vet to keep him informed. Matt H. We have been taking our pets to Blue Valley and Dr. Keefer since 2002 since I got our first Yorkie. We have ALL of our vet and grooming services handled by Dr. Keefer and Jenn the groomer does the grooming. Dr. Keefer saved our dog's life when she was bit by a brown recluse spider, he did surgery on the ACL of one of my pets and does all of our routine vet care for all FOUR of our dogs...............they enjoy going there..........from the daycare to grooming to getting their shots or major surgery. The staff is always professional and friendly and Dr. Keefer always diagnoses what is wrong with my dogs correctly. We drive almost an hour to go here. When we moved from Johnson County to Missouri there was no way we were going to change to a new vet. He is simply the best, most caring and competent vet we know. Just some notes: I found Dr. Keffer rather creepy and arrogant. He doesn't communicate well. It's rather difficult to understand exactly what he's saying. He talks a lot, says little and often contradicts himself. Will slam other boarding venues. (example: when I mentioned that I preferred to take my dog to Paws at Play for occasional play/boarding because of the camera - his response was ""well, it's all about you anyway, right?"") Pushes some weird human herbal product from the Amazon forest on the side. Just an observation, but gathering from the various turn over in staff - it appears that he has a thing for young blondes. In conclusion, he's just creepy and average for vet services. Stanley Vet clinic wasn't creepy - but it reeked of assembly line process. I think I'll try Dr. Ott out at State Line. I have known Dr. Keffer for almost half a year now, and I have got to say that he is one of the best people I have ever worked with. He understands the needs of his customers, and he always has their pet as his priority. When a very young puppy came in this last fall with a severe case of Parvo I watched as Dr. Keffer took his own time to come in at all hours of the night to try and save the puppies life. After almost losing the puppy, Dr. Keffer went through a great amount of research to find that Doc's own dog Gabe had the same plasma type. Dr. Keffer was so concerned with saving the puppy that he did a transfusion from his own dog to the puppy. The staff at BVAH was happy to say that the puppy, Cody, was able to go home with his family within the next week.\r I would recommend Dr. Gary Keffer to anyone that feels that their pet is more than a pet, but part of the family. Dr. Keffer has saved lives, and continues to do the greatest job of caring for his clients at Blue Valley Animal Clinic. more

I am new to the area, and searched for vets online for my 2 pugs. They both have chronic dry eye. Dr. Keffer's staff are very welcoming, and friendly. Dr Keffer himself came in the room with a very nice, and very proffesional attitiude. He made me feel comfortable with his care for my pets, Munchy and Ringo. He tried a new alternative for eye care, which has worked tremendously. Needless to say, I am very pleased with the whole hospital atmosphere, and will definitely be recommending his services to my new friends and neighbors in the area! Pros: Very trusting more

I would not recommend taking your dog here for veterinary services. Most animals are diagnosed with something, whether it be serious or not. I recommend if you get any sort of estimate that you think is too high, for heaven's sake get a second opinion. If anyone recommends surgery you should always check out your options. You would do it for yourself. \r I can also say that the doctor tries to peddle things that have nothing to do with why I am there, MY PET! There is always something he wants to sign me up for or to sell to me. Also the staff turnover is very disappointing. There is hardly ever a familiar face. After almost a year going there, I will not be going back to him.\r \r On a very positive note, my dog loves the groomer. She is very patient with the animals and does a great job!!! I will still take my dog to her for grooming, but vet services are provided elsewhere.\r \r Pros: The groomer is awesome, she takes care of every pet like her own. Cons: Everything else. more

I have been going to their groomer, jennifer, for ten years. Before she came to BVAH I went to her for three years to groom my golden retriever. When she moved there I followed her there. She is good to talk to and does good work. When my dog died a year ago, she made sure to send cards and flowers. I then got another dog and still continue taking her there. She is good with customer service and I have no complaints with her. I would highly recommend her to anyone. Pros: Good grooming services. Cons: No problems at all. more

This was my shitzu's's second experierence with a professional groomer. Her first was at a pet's mart in Overland Park, it was not a pleasent experience for her. Her second grooming experience was equally as bad at Blue Valley Animal Hospital. The gal that did her grooming was rather rude when I asked how she did with her grooming. I had informed the clinic this was her second experience being groomed and the details of her first experience. The groomer informed me my 8lbs Shitzu bit her. Keep in mind this is a dog that has never bitten anyone. I was quite offended by a professional not being able to handle an eight pound dog. Her third grooming experience was done by Old mill grooming in Martin City. I explained to this groomer my dogs previous experiences, the owner of the business informed me my dog did just find being groomed. \r \r This tells me the previous two groomers should not be in the business of grooming dogs if they are uneasy around them. I would avoid Blue Valley's Animal Hospital for any type of grooming service. After this incident we discontinued all services at Blue Valley's animal hospital. Pros: Vets okay, although try to sell you all kinds of un-needed items. Cons: Quality of grooming services were poor-did not treat my 8 lb dog or me with respect. more
