Food and Service were very good 1/5/2010

Dear fellow reviewers: This is not a five star restaurant, but the chef(s) make perfectly good authentic middle eastern food, as well as some good deserts. The happy hour prices are very good, and their bartender was creative. I ordered a hot toddy, and he used Grand Marnier instead of honey...it worked very well. Other reviewers have commented on botched orders, and I do have to confess, our Baba order turned into an order of hummus, but it was good, so we did not care. Pros: Good Happy Hour Food, drinks, and desert. Cons: None more

Not a good first impression 10/9/2009

We was going for lunch but later decided to just grab a desert for togo and plan to come back the other day, but I guess after today we wont' be going back. we let the host or the GM know that we would like a piece of their desert to go, she just left us there for along time. There was no one come back to help us for a very long time, couple employees looked at us but do nothing. We finally got our cake, and for the cost of $8.00/piece the test was not worth the price. It was dry and old. Man if you are going to charge people that much for a piece of cake, atlease give them the fresh one. What a disappoiting experience.... Pros: nice setting Cons: bad first impression more

Fabulous Middle Eastern Food 9/9/2009

After having lived in the Middle East for 5 years, I have looked for a restaurant that matched what I was used to eating over there. I found it here at the Blue Tangerine. My wife and i love the food and enjoy taking friends there to sample our favorites like we used to enjoy. Pros: Just like I have had in Israel, Jordan, and Egypt Cons: almost too large of portions more

Not worth the money or time 9/9/2009

Ordered: lemonade, tea, lamb kabob, giro plate - lemonade tasted like country time, the lamb was poorly seasoned and overcooked, I found a hair in my rice that didn't belong to me or my husband, the saffron rice is great if you like plain white rice w/no seasoning/flavor. The gyro was decent tasting but not worth the price tag. My husband tried to take me out for my birthday since he knows I enjoy greek food. He brought a gift certificate he'd purchased at half price and saved for the occasion. We ordered about $35 in food and found out when we pulled out the certificate that it had expired and they wouldn't honor it. The dinner wasn't worth $35, and most certainly wasn't worth the $60 we ended up paying for it because of the cost of the gift certificate too. It was a huge disappointment. Cons: Food wasn't great more

Best place for Middleeastern food outside of Middle East 8/30/2009

I have traveled through the Middle East and the Mediterranean and this place is very true to its origins. The food is very authentic, very tasty and very fresh. Service was always great and friendly, sometimes a little slow but pleasant. My husband and I visit once a week if we can and always take friends. None has ever been disappointed. Pros: Best Hummus and Baba - Kashk is out of this world Cons: No belly dancers!!! more

Sour Tangerine 5/5/2009

I like supporting local businesses so I've been coming to this place since it opened. I don't know what going on in the kitchen but the food, especially take out orders are botched up with missing items. Also the authentic Middle Eastern taste is gone. Sorry to say this but the carts at PSU run circles around this place. Also please skip their FUN hour menu which is basically 1/2 portion items so it's actually more economical to get the regular priced menu items. E.g Gyro is $5 for a 1/2 but $8 on the regular menu. That's not in the spirit of happy hour. Also all their drinks are now overpriced....$2.50 for a coke, $3.50 for an IZZY or can of Pellagrino soda. Pros: Nice servers Cons: Food is going downhill fast. more

Best Greek food I've had...ever. 3/24/2009

We eat here before watching movies @ Bridgeport. More often than not, my meal @ BT is more memorable than the movie. Their spanakopita is divine. Gyros are exceptional. I pass on their kabobs. Eat here before your next movie in Bridgeport. You WILL be satisfied. Pros: Best spanakopita in PDX Cons: Bridgeport parking more

You have got to be kidding, this place is a joke 11/28/2008

I went into this place because I could eat fast and get to a movie. I would have rather eaten a hot dog on a stick.. The food was terrible, the service worse...what a waste of money. Pros: They somehow got into Bridgeport Village Cons: too many to list more

Overpriced for mediocre greasy food. 6/27/2008

Overpriced for mediocre greasy food. Quality and service was lacking. I had to wait over an hour to be seated and it was not even busy, almost empty? more

Paid too much for just so-so food 6/19/2008

This restaurant was a disappointment the first time I went. Set up as a cafeteria style, they were not equipped to handle any party size over two; it was quickly apparent they didn't plan on having the crowds they did. I gave it another shot when I heard they had changed things around. Unfortunately, they really hadn't improved at all. Like another reviewer, they had run out of food; they were not accommodating to any changes in menu; they basically told us what we could have to eat, because they were out of everything else. The prices didn't match the value and I'm not sure who was cooking the food, but it was tasteless. It reminded me of a mediterranean version of Burgerville. We will not be back. Pros: location Cons: everything else more

What DO they have to eat??? 5/13/2008

Okay I'm sorry, but this place was just OK. My friend and I went there on a Saturday night and we thought we would just grab a bite to eat before our movie... We chose Blue Tangerine because I really wanted to try the lamb and she wanted to try the chicken. Well, after we've already ordered, our server comes and tell us, "Oh we're out of the chicken..." so my friend orders another dish. Then, minutes later, she comes back to tell us, "Oh, sorry, but we're out of lamb too." Are you kidding me??? What exactly DO you have left? I ended up getting the Gyro and it honestly wasn't very good. My friend was not satisfied with her dish either... Then our check was wrong and we had to get it fixed... It was one bad thing after another! In the end, we both didn't like our food and paid over $40 for food we didn't want in the first place. Needless to say, we won't be returning. more

FAVORITE restaurant in Bridgeport 5/1/2008

My boyfriend and I ate here last night before we went to the movies. Everything was great! The food was delicious, and the service wonderful. Some of the menu items needed explaining (foreign words) but our server did an excellent job of describing them. Because we did a little shopping before we ate, we received 10% our meal (just present a Bridgeport receipt). The server mentioned that they'll give 10% off with a ticket stub too, so it'd be a good place to get dessert after a movie. HIGHLY recommend it, and we plan on becoming regulars! Pros: Great food, excellent service, 10% discount Cons: Nothing! more

Best baba ganoush! 3/6/2008

I live west of Hillsboro, but whenever I get near Bridgeport Plaza, I have to get to Blue Tangerine for their baba ganoush. I've had several of their dishes and they have all been very tasty!! Highly recommended. Pros: good food Cons: too far from where I live more

not recommended for catering 2/12/2008

We selected Blue Tangerine to be our caterer for an event of about 20 people. They showed up late, and then spent another half hour prepping the food before it could be served. Only one person showed up, so we had to help carry in all the food. The food was good, but I wouldn't recommend them for catering because they seem short-staffed and unprofessional. more

Cold atmosphere, service slow and unresponsive - Food good 1/27/2008

The food was decent, but hard to enjoy due to temperature of restaurant. The service was subpar, only one refill on drink during the dining experience. We were one of 4 tables eating (it was empty). I am not a huge Greek food fan but from what I understand the quality of the food is acceptable. I wouldn't write home about this place. Pros: Food was decent Cons: Cold sterile atmosphere more

Great service and food every time we go! 1/17/2008

First of all being from Salem, where there are few places we could recommend, we love finding little gems like the Blue Tangerine. Service has always been spot on, the food always tastie, and it's nice to see local owners going up against the big names like PF Chang and Califorina Pizza. as a matter of fact, we choose B.T. over the others everytime. Pros: good food for the price and service has always been tops. Cons: We don't have one in Salem. more

Please serve fresh food 12/31/2007

We stopped by last night for a slice of chocolate cake before a movie. I got it to go, did'nt want to be late. The cake was a disappointment, very dry. For $6.00 a slice it better be fresh! Gave this place a chance before, will never go back. Pros: Love Bridgeport, always there Cons: Too bad I wont be going to this restaurant more

Chef Mina is an artist with her creations 12/13/2007

We recently had Blue Tangerine cater our party. We were extremely pleased by her warm service and amazing food. From start to finish Mina and her staff were remarkable and lovely to work with. Her presentation was beautiful. Pros: Food, service and hospitality Cons: None more

Overall, average 11/24/2007

The Blue Tangerine is a little Mediterranean restaurant in Bridgeport Village, right down the street from the Cinemas. For a mall, this place wasn't half bad. I liked the blue theme for the colors and on the wall they had a map with Europe with the Mediterranean highlighted. The service was average in my opinion. I started the night with a hummus platter which was good, but prior to ordering I'd ask the waiter more about some of their other appetizers and caught a bit of attitude like I was supposed to know what some of the non-English words meant. I ended up having the salmon for the entree and it was pretty good. All in all, the food was good, the service average, and the ambience ok. It's kind of a cafeteria style environment that seems a little out of place for a place that's trying to be more upscale. It's not a buffet but if you go in here you'll see what I'm talking about with the cafeteria layout. Would I go back? I doubt it. more
