Blue Mango - CLOSED

Blue Mango is alright yogurt. The yogurt there is too watery and has no flavor to it I feel. Instead of having yogurt I insist on going to the hidden Maui Wowi Hawaiian (Smoothies and Coffee), it is delicous! Fresh fruit blends are a combination of there secret non-fat yogurt recipe with the best tropical fruit purees and fresh fruit juices. They mix 'em to order wikiwiki with a fresh banana which adds tons of flavor! I highly insist that everyone checks out Maui Wowi they make really good Espresso and Hot Chocolate drinks too! I tried Blue Mango?s regular, plain vanilla, and compared to Pinkberry?s or Red Mango?s, it just didn?t measure up. It lacked flavor and tasted a bit watery. If I go back again, I?d definitely select a different kind of fro-yo. I did like the store?s cool blue interior, and the place seemed to have more cereal, nut and fruit topping options than Pinkberry or Red Mango. more

Although I am pretty much in opposition to this ridiculous regurgitation of the frozen yogurt fad, I have succumbed to trying out a few of these places simply because Mashti Malones is often too out of the way for me to get there. (If you don't know Mashtis, you're not an Angeleno.) Anyway, when i saw that this place was opening up, i thought it was totally lame, but now i am a believer! I've gone back several times and each time I am very happy with the experience. I've done the plain/vanilla but have moved on to the Blue Mango Blueberry --simply the best! The consistency of the yogurt is creamy, almost like ice-cream, and very refreshing and offers just the right amount of pucker. THe toppings always appear fresh (i prefer fresh strawberry & Apple Jacks) and the blueberry yogurt is surprisingly versatile with just about any topping. THe space itself is fun with the obligatory mid-century plastic pendant lamps and even bright blue astroturf! The location kinda sux (no foot traffic!) altho i suppose the owner is counting on kids from the nearby Roxy & Rainbow Room to walk on in... Pinkberry what?? YOu can keep your long lines ...
