Blue Bonnet Restaurant

We were going to Sweet Berry Farms in Marble Falls to pick strawberries so I looked up local restaurants and came across rave reviews for Blue Bonnet Cafe. We went and waited in line for about 20 minutes for the table. With all the excellent reviews and then the line, I was really excited to try the food. What a disapointment. Food like Mom used to make? Sure. If your Mom really liked her can opener. Instant mashed potatoes, canned gravy and tasteless rolls (the waitress told us she would bring our rolls right out - she had just put them in the microwave) are not at all what I was expecting. The Blue Bonnet Cafe is truly a landmark of central Texas. Nothing fancy. No china, no sorbets, no tuxedos. The BBC is just some good ol fashioned food. A top chicken fried steak, the best breakfast around, and some of the best pie you'll ever eat. The BBC is cheap, quick and my favorite restaurant in or around Austin. It's been ranked the top breakfast place in Texas and a top 100 in the US...and it is. All day, everyday you can feast in pancakes, steak and eggs or whatever you may love for an All-American brekafast. If you want a slice of heaven you might want to take the short drive out 71 to 281 because the BBC is the closest thing to you'll find around here. Best breakfast, best dessert and best food all for around $10 a person. Pros: Great Food, Great People, Dirt Cheap Cons: Far Away more
