I lucked into finding Jen Perkins back when she was at another salon and followed her to Blu. It's a fun and cozy salon in SE Portland, where they take care of their customers. You can get free bangs or neckline trims between major cuts and they always offer you water, tea, coffee or a beer depending on the time of day. oh my god sara...your like the my savier! haha i love what you did to my hair. ever since school started everyones like ""dude..i love your hair i wish i had it"" or ""oh my god its sooo pretty"" it feels pretty awsome having ppl you dont even no coming up to you and telling you how great your hair looks! :) im just glad to have someone like you who actually spends time on my hair and makes it look FANTASTIC! and to those ppl who just dont lik thier hair or wants something new or a different style...i sugjust you guys go to Blu Salon! once you go there your guna want to go back..and never stop!! I have been having Trish cut my hair for well over a year now, which for me is unheard of. I used to be a hair-dresser/salon-hopper! Trish (and Blu) put an end to my hopping! Pros: The staff, the products, the location, EVERYTHING!!! Cons: There are no cons! This place rocks! more

Since moving back to Portland, I've struggled to find a stylist here I like. After sampling a few places and not really being happy with the results, I finally found Blu and Sara. She's great! Sara listened carefully to what I wanted and made helpful, knowledgable suggestions. She gave me beautiful, multi-dimensional color--no stripes--and a cool layered cut that fits my hair type, my style, and my age. I am definitely going back! more

I went in yesterday to Blu for the first time with bleached to distruction hair. April worked wonders giving me the best blend of colors i have gotten yet. Very good cut too! After two salons I am finally glad to have found a stylist I can trust with my hair. The place is clean and the staff is friendly and if you want a very artistic, knowlegable professional at a reasonable price (nearly unheard of these days) ask for April. You won't be disappointed. more

I just moved here from New Mexico and was worried I wouldn't find a good hairstylist. Sara came highly recommended by a guy I met at an AT&T store. I took his advice and made an appointment. She did an absolutely fabulous job! I am so glad that I decided to get my hair done by her. The prices are a little bit more than I am used to but I feel so confident with my new hairstyle that it was definitely worth it. I won't be going anywhere else for my hair... You won't leave disappointed! more

Jill is my stylist at Blu. First visit Jill did a really complete evaluation of my hair (texture, hair line, etc.) and my facial shape before recommending a new style. She did a fabulous job on the cut and styling, I've gotten many compliments on it, and highly recommend her. Jill is interesting, friendly, but professional and clearly very competent. The atmosphere of the salon is sophisticated without being pretentious, and the place is lovely. It's clear that the staff there is serious about style and design, and they work at a higher level than other salons. I love the place. Pros: Competent staff, pleasant atmosphere, great service, great value. Cons: None. It's great. more

I had a great experience at Blu a week ago. The stylist, Tricia, really listened to what I wanted and what I wanted is what I got but even better than I anticipated. I am a no-fuss hair person and usually am disappointed the days after a cut because I refuse to do all the products and fru-fruing the stylist does when I initially get my cut. Well, as I said, it has been about a week since the cut and I love my hair more and more! Pros: Everything was easy and great for my visit Cons: none that I encountered more

I definitely loved Blu. April is awesome, she did a fantastic job with my haircut. You definitely feel as though you are in good hands at Blu a Salon. I dont see how you can go wrong! more

I give this place five stars. April is pure magic. I went to her after getting a bad haircut and she was able to fix it and make it look amazing. I love how she cuts my hair. She's more than able to give you a great cut, she's able to visualize what style will make you look even more beautiful. I am SO thankful that I found her. She rocks. Blu is the only place I have ever felt comfortable having my hair done and Peggy is a rock star among hair stylists. She has always given me the hair style I ask for, but she is also knowledgable about current trends and her suggestions have always made me look beautiful!! Her staff is well trained and keeps up with trips to NYC for all the latest in fashion, makeup and hair trends. This was my first visit to Blu salon and I now I'm hooked. I came in with a ""hair story"" and a skeptical attiude, but Sara took me in and made it all better. She actually listened to what I wanted and didn't want my hair to look like and was able to give me a sweet cut. She took her time, mastered my troubled bangs, and treated me like a real person, not an uptight customer overly concerned about her hair (which I was). Plus, the perks are great. Not only did I get 20% off my first cut, free samples, and a complementary bangs trim, I also left feeling well treated and respected. Blu is a friendly salon environment where you don't feel embarassed for cutting your own bangs or intimidated by the great looking stylists. Thanks Sara, you rock! When I went into the salon, the environment was really amazing. There was music, and everyone was talking to everyone....I have long hair and alot of times when I go to a place and say that I want something more stylish, they just chop my hair. When you go in ask for Sara. She did amazing things with my long blonde hair, AND its still long and blonde. I love it. Also, there was her co worker there who said Sara cut her hair, and she had short hair. And her cut looked amazing. Sara is able to work with a variety of hair length and styles and is amazing at all of them. I feel confident that the other stylists at the salon are probably also very talented. Another bonus? If you are reading this and you go in, you get free trials sizes of bumble and bumble product, which is really great stuff. And, you get a discount on your cut, too. Plus, parking around there is really easy to attain. I wasactually able toget my cut same day, but that was because there were cancelations, and they reccommend you call in advance to schedule an appointment. So you should make one today! Pros: Parking!! And everything else! Cons: If you dont like the type of music they play, it could get annoying but its not loud and it isnt screaming at you. more

April is a great stylist, she listens to what you want and does a great cut. My cut always grows out well, which means she knows what she's doing. They give you beer while you wait and while you get a cut, it's fabulous! more

I HAD THE MOST AMAZING EXPEIRENCE AT BLU I WENT IN FOR A CORRECTIVE COLOR AND A HAIRCUT, MY HAIR WAS IN NEED OF SOME MAJOR TLC AND BRITTANY TOOK CARE OF ME. MY COLOR AND CUT WERE BOTH UNBELIEVABLE. After a long search for a stylist who gave a great haircut, a friend recommended Blu Salon & Jill. My first impression entering the salon, was what an eclectic blend of decorating styles, from the chandelier in the reception area to the original art on the walls by local artists. Each room was unique & pleasurable to be in. I was greeted warmly by the attentive staff. Jill thoroughly went over what I wanted in a style, color & haircut, she made some excellent suggestions that I had not thought of, an indication of a top notch professional in my book. I was so pleased with the results. Needless to say the whole first experience was fabulous, when I returned for my second appointment with Jill it was even better. I was complimented so much about my cut, color & style by friends & family that I will be a loyal client of Jill's & Blu Salon from now on as will all who I've recommended. more
