Best in the world 1/12/2012

In the world, there are few experiences that one can choose and know they will be great. Eating at the Black Trumpet is one of them. Whether you choose downstairs in the neatly packed dining room, or upstairs in the tavern overlooking the tugboats, your service will be great; each morsel that enters your mouth will be freshly different than anything you've ever tasted. Your drinks will be nice and strong. Warm, consistent, and the best there is, from someone who knows and loves food. more

Fantastic! 12/2/2006

My friend and I wandered around Portsmouth for the day shopping and after smelling all the great smells of food wafting from the multitude of restaurants, we decided to try out Lindbergh's Crossing. The ambience and decor is warm and inviting. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and service was consistently well done. We had the moules and frites for appetizer and it was delicious; big enough for 2-3 people to share. I normally like to eat my fries plain, but the sauce they drizzled on it was good. The seafood paella I ordered was fresh and wonderful tasting. My friend ordered the duck breast and it was tender and flavorful. For dessert we had the medium rare chocolate cake and the pomegranate vanilla pudding and loved it.\r \r The waitress we had was pleasant and friendly and attentive. The service from the whole dining room really was consistently superb and the food fabulous! Whenever I visit Portsmouth I always try a new restaurant, but I will definitely break that rule when I return to eat here again next time I'm in town. Pros: Service, Ambience, Food, Clean bathroom Cons: Bathroom on second floor more

Excellent French cuisine! 9/27/2006

I took my husband here for his Birthday who is a native of France and not only was it charming, but the food was as good as the French fare that his tastebuds surely miss. \r The menu is extensive and offers a wide variety of food that I would say is mostly based in Southern France traditional cuisine. Of course, they offer Escargot and Moules Frites! Infact, thats what hubby and I ordered and though the aioli sauce on the Moules Frites was a bit overpowering, the mussles had a great taste and if I remember correctly came from Nova Scotia.\r The wine list is amazing and the waitress who served us was charming and helpful. We only got an appetizer and a first course which kept us full all night, but if you are planning some fine dining with excellent options and a full course meal, Lindberg's Crossing is a great place to take family and friends. Pros: Excellent ambience and wonderful wine list Cons: Even though the waitress was wearing jeans to give it the 'bistrot' feel, the patrons were not. Don't dress down here or feel like a fool! more
