A GREAT NIGHT 11/6/2011

We recently had our class reunion at The Black Angus and what a great time we had. This was the first time we had gotten together in some time and this was a good spot. Our food was delicious and our service was great. The banquet room was large enough for our party and DJ.\r I would recommend this establishment to anyone planning a party in the future. more

GREAT STEAK! 10/13/2011

I travel quite frequently and recently had dinner at the Black Angus. The ribeye was absolutely the best steak I have ever had. The atmosphere and staff were exceptional. I would definately recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal. more

Shrimp & Grits 8/2/2011

I never imagined that I would be able to find any restaurant in this area that knew how to prepare shrimp & grits. The Black Angus Grille is THAT place. The chef there out performs any other. This was the best shrimp & grits that I have ever eaten. Please tell all your friends about this place. more

Our Company Party 6/24/2011

We recently had our company dinner at the Black Angus Grille. I had the ribeye steak and it was out of this world!! It was the juiciest and most tender steak that I have ever had! I was very impressed with the professionalism and attentiveness of the wait staff. We will definitely be returning for future events! more

Our Reception Was Fabulous! 3/21/2011

We recently had our wedding reception at The Black Angus Grille and are so glad we chose this venue. The entire night went exceptionally smooth and the staff made everything so easy. We heard nothing but compliments from our guests, both during and after the event. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone planning a wedding reception or rehearsal dinner. more

Wonderful Atmosphere! 3/18/2011

Great food 11/12/2010

Had a great meal at Black Angus Grille. Was a little concerned after seeing other reviews but thank goodness I ignored them. The room we used for a wedding celebration was great, I had the ribeye and it was delicious, as was the mashed potatoes and veggies. It was a great experience. more

Very disappointed 10/15/2010

I have got to agree with the last few reviews. i attended this same reunion with my sister and her friends. The food was horrible. $35 a plate and it looked like the meat was a banquet meal and the mashed potatoes would not even come off of the spoon they were so thick. The service was even worse and the owner treated all of us with disrespect. I would not have any event at this place and certainly do not plan on trying it again. Overpriced food, bad service, and a very rude owner....not to mention the horrible decor. more

I Second That! 10/15/2010

I completely agree with the rest of you. Just because the restuarant was told (not written down anywhere) that we may have 150 out of 252 people that we graduated with might be there, they are going to make the planners of our reunion pay for the people who didn't show up. We were lucky to get the 60 something people there that did come. I guess it would be different if it had been our 5th year class reunion, but it was our 20th year class reunion. Does the owner not realize that MAYBE it is hard to get everyone to come who said they were. Things happen, especially after you have kids and are knocking on 40's door; can't find a babysitter, couldn't get off work to come, most of us had to travel distances to even get there. You have to consider things like that when you know a big party is coming to your restaurant, and you better get it in writing and contract next time you want to say you're gona throw a civil lawsuit on someone. I've talked to a few people and we could throw our own lawsuit on you just for ruining our reunion and the mental anguish that it caused all of us and the fact that you turned the lights off before all of us were out the door, don't you realize that is a fire hazard?. One of the planners for the reunion was even upset to tears. Not only did we pay $35 to get in the door, we had to pay seperate if we wanted a $3 beer or a $6 mixed drink and all of us had to pitch in at the end to pay $2750 just so we could leave. $2750 for beef gravy with some kinda meat in it (reminds me of the hormel frozen beef tips and gravy you get at grocery store), chicken that was dry, mashed potatoes that were instant, frozen overcooked veggies, salad and a roll? We didn't even get to take the food home that was left that we had just paid $2750 for. We were told that it was being put into take out trays but we could see it sitting on the counter through the doors to the kitchen, no one was boxing anything. As soon as the manager had a nervous breakdown and screamed at everyone, they continued to take our money and kicked us out, turning the lights off as we were walking out the door, with some of us still inside. I got to the event an hour late, I had to get the bartender to pour the water out of the ice cups that had been sitting on a table where the tea was. Not to mention besides our party there was only one table that was taken out in the restuarant part of this establishment. It was a Saturday night at 8 when I arrived and no one is there? What does that tell you? I've heard that the owner has recently bought Black Angus, so she got the name and reputation that came with the establishment but she has failed to live up to it's high standards. This used to be the place to go out to eat on a weekend night, now I guess it's not, or there would have been more people in there besides us. It is a shame when this is what the world is coming to. You can't even go into a high priced steak house without getting harrased by the redneck owners. All of us are probly more redneck than she ever will be but at least we got class too! more

From High Class to Below Average 10/12/2010

To add to the previous review. This was my first experience to this restaraunt and I expected to have a pleasant evening with good friends and I was very disappoint with just about everything! From the bad taste in the decor to the bad service, to the food which was anything but good. And to be approached on the street and threatened with a gun by the owner, her husband, and the manager because we thought their service sucked! My sisters NIHS reunion is SUPPOSE to be held there next month and I will be letting them know that this is not the place for them! more

It depends on what your looking for in a restaurant. 10/12/2010

If you're looking for a restaurant where you will enjoy a wonderful meal that is fresh, hot, and most of all, delicious, look elsewhere. If you're looking for a restaurant simply to entertain clients, the service is not up to par for the price you will pay. You may find yourself embarrassed. Personally, I would keep checking the area, because this is a nice town, and I'm sure you can find a place. Southern hospitality, great food, and great service is probably close by, just not here at the Black Angus. more

Do not let them ruin your party! 10/11/2010

Do not go to this restaurant. The owner is very unprofessional and her management team actually cussed out the leader of our group of 61 (reunion). I have lived here all my life and have always thought this was the most high class place to go in Statesville for a great meal. The food...just plain. The service...disrespectful. The management..totally redneck. This will be a waste of your money. Please do not book large events there unless you want them ruined. They kicked us out just because enough people didnt show up...totally called the police, closed the bar and cut the lights off. Afterwards, the owner saw our group walking down the street and actually stopped, rolled down the window and cussed us out! I am totally speechless that this woman owns a business. From what I here, she has recently bought this business which has been a landmark in our city for decades. This is such a shame to me. People wonder why locals do not support local businesses...this is one example \r of why. more
