we will miss you BISTRO! 4/1/2011

We've been dining at Bistro 64 since before the Massey's purchased it (it was Cosmopolitians then); so loooong time and many many dinners. We prefer the bar, but the dining room is beautiful and our favorite server, Honey, is always in the dining room - but she manages to pop in and say hello and thank us for joining them every time we go. We've never had bad service there. Even when the bar was slammed, the servers were working as hard as they possibly could. The food - wow - great across the board. And we've used the City pass and TWONGO coupons there many times and never had an issue. Even when our TWONGO was expired, they still accepted it. We LOVED the entertainment in the bar and were esp happy when they added the t.v. (ACC sports!) in the bar and a burger to the bar menu. We wish ALL the employees and owners there the very best and we will truly miss the great food and service we received there. more

Terrible Meal and Dining Experience 2/26/2011

Terrible dining experience this evening. My husband and I both concur that our dinner at Bistro 64 was skimpy in portion, bland and uninspired in taste, and overpriced! To boot the bread was stale and they made a mistake on our order. Avoid this restaurant if you want value and service. more

83 sanitation rating? 12/2/2010

My daughter and I dined at Bistro a few days before thanksgiving and I spent the whole thanksgiving holiday sick to my stomach and not able to move much from the bathroom. As I was sitting at home today my daughter called me and told me about the wral sanitation grades and that Bistro had more then 15 things wrong, including improper food handling. I guess my thoughts were probably right that I got sick from the bistro. We will not return and will hope other do the same. Displeased greatly. Johnny more

Menu mispresents entrees 6/10/2010

Several friends and I went to this restaurant in MacGregor Village to kick off a member-guest golf weekend. The menu appeared to offer an interesting selection of entrees; however, apparently the food writer and food stylist (for the restaurant's web page)didn't communicate with the chef. I ordered ""Grilled Scottish ?Loch Duart? Salmon over a vine riped tomato, cucumber and fresh basil salad with a honeycup mustard vinaigrette and topped with zesty onion straws."" What came to the table was a serious mound (3-4 cups) of ""onion straws"" under a piece of salmon. A few sliced tomatoes and cucumbers were included around the bottom edge of the onion mountain. Basil was nowhere to be found. ( It looked nothing like the entree picture on the website.) When I asked the waiter about the discrepancies in my dish, he said it was a ""deconstructed salad"". He said the basil must be under the onion mountain.....gave it a serious look and couldn't find even one small chiffonade of basil. So he offered to take the salmon and put it over ""fresh greens with basil"". Brought it back...still no basil. I asked if the kitchen was out of basil and he said no he could get some for me if that's what I wanted with my salmon! The fish had been nicely cooked, unfortunately, by the time I was able to take a bite it was cold. When the dessert menu came, the waiter indicated my dessert would be ""on him"". I only wanted coffee . Besides, the most expensive dessert was only $6.95 and my entree was $26. When the bill came, there was no adjustment for the misrepresented entree, delay of my meal and resulting cold entree. The waiter was very cavalier and said he would ""let the manager know about my disappointment"" in the meal (when he came in the next day!). Pros: nice wine list Cons: Dishes not prepapred with ingredients listed on menu more

Fine dining experience 5/30/2010

Wonderful dining experience with out of town guests. Start with the multitude of choices for martinis - select from a contempory and distinct menu and enjoy a relaxing evening. They have not disappointed us during our the several visits. Our guests loved it all! Pros: Food and Martinis more

Half-priced bar menu on Thursdays 3/7/2010

My husband and I would go to Bistro 64 with our friend on Thursday nights for the half-priced bar menu, as we are unable to afford the 'restaurant side'. When we first started going on Thursdays, it was a well-guarded secret and the bar area usually had a couple of empty tables and room to spare at the bar itself. After a while, more friends started joining us (making us a large group of 7). We recognized this could be inconvenient for the restaurant so we would call ahead. We also know that it takes quite some time for the food to come out. We are not 'campers', we try to get out of the restaurant shortly after we've paid our bill, but we still end up being there for a good two hours because of the wait on the food. The place became more and more busy and they finally told us they would no longer accept a reservation. We did not go this past Thursday, and evidently they want us back! Our waitstaff has always been very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the seasonal menu for quite some time, as there were multiple dishes we liked and did not become bored with. The menu changed, and unfortunately there's only one dish on there that I currently enjoy (I am by no means a picky eater). However, the desserts have always been winners and they have a great selection of beer, wine, and martinis. Pros: seasonal menu, attentive staff, somewhat adventurous dessert Cons: price, time it takes to receive food more

This is MUST for people that love great good & service! 1/22/2010

My husband and I live close to Bistro but always over-look it for other places to eat. The outside is not very inviting and I guess we just were never drawn to eating there. Recently we decided to give it is try and we have now eaten there twice. Pros: Great food and service Cons: limited menu more

Amazing New Years Dinner! 12/31/2009

My wife and I have enjoyed may fine meals at bistro 64 and must say New Years Eve was by far the best meal I have had in my life! We had a nice mix of everything the chef had to offer but let me tell you how great the Lobster Ravioli were. Our server Caitlin let me know that the chef had spent many hours preparing them by hand the day before. You could tell a whole lot of love was put into the food and the new chef is a keeper. To the poster of the last review perhaps the issue is you are too cheap to be dining at a restaurant of this caliber. I hope the others in your party weren't too embarrassed as I am sure you made quite a scene. Coupons should be kept for applebee's or domino's pizza while your kids are home with the baby sitter. Sorry I don't mean to sound rude or pretentious, but you can't nickle and dime a restaurant and if it was stated on the coupon its your own fault for not properly reading and understanding the directions and terms of use. Oh did you ever ask if you could use both coupons and discounts on the martini's at the same time? If so and no one told you then yes that would be a scam, but it doesn't seem as though that's the case here. Back on topic, my wife and I are excited to see what bistro has in store for Valentines Day 2010! We will see you guys then and please have the ravioli! Pros: Food, service, and live music more

Be careful with your coupon 12/29/2009

This is a very pricey restaurant but we decided to try it because of the coupon in the City Pass book - buy one dinner, get one free. Upon entering the restaurant, the hostess greeted us and asked if we were aware that Monday was half price Martini night. We were delighted when presented with an extensive ""Martini"" menu. The four of us enjoyed 6 Martinis at $5 each. After dinner, when we presented our dinner coupons, the waiter said we couldn't use the coupon while enjoying the discount drinks - one or the other. We asked why we weren't informed of that by either him or the hostess and the response was its on the coupon. We wound up paying $60 for the martinis in order to use the coupon - bad public relations, a flim-flam scam and will never go back. It was such an unpleasant experience Pros: Pretty good food, nice presentation Cons: Wouldn't accept coupon with discount drinks. more

Going downhill, but not because of the food 9/13/2009

Good Restaurant 1/30/2009

I am a frequent customer at the Bistro 64, and I think very highly of this place. I have had exceptional service with the bartenders, waiters and the management team. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a relaxing atmosphere and an excellent dinner. Cheers!!!!!!!!!!!! Pros: friendly staff more

stay home, save your money 1/30/2009

I have to agree with last review. Do we get penalized for being truthful? It is just not the same as before. Service good. Our waiter did a nice job, but agree with the last reviewer on the waiter in question. Food decent but not worth the prices charged. Desserts excellent. Wine expensive. Scale of 1-10 a 3. Better options. Pros: service good? maybe? location Cons: $$$$ everything and empty room more

Get rid of the Brad guy! And be upfront with specials! 1/30/2009

No, I do not think it is disgruntled employees that write the negative reviews...quite the contrary. The first time I try a place I go to the reviews to get just a hint of what is to be expected. Almost EVERYTIME the negative reviews are much more accurate. However, I did not read any reviews before I went to Bistro 64. Pros: Have they gotten rid of Brad yet? Cons: Read their specials...especially the fine print! ;) more

Still Got it! 1/30/2009

As I look through all the recent comments, I am amazed to see such negative remarks. Makes me wonder if some of the previous staff is ticked because they were let go, and now feel the need to bash the Bistro in a public forum. Pros: Great Service and Food Cons: Lighting a little dim for my taste more

Great meal 1/29/2009

Our neighbors rave about this place so we tried it with them for the first time. We just moved into MacGregor right across the street so the location is perfect for us (especially after a couple martinis). Our waiter was very nice as was everyone there we met. I order salmon a lot of places but this salmon and risotto dish was one of my favorites I've ever had. My husband really enjoyed his pork and the calamari we all had for an appetizer was great! Great martinis! We will definitely return. Pros: Food, Service and Location Cons: Dining room was a little chilly more

not happy & way overpriced 1/27/2009

Clients to entertain We opted for here. Bartender very snooty and super slow. Seated we were served stale bread, not a good start! Our waiter was very condescending and as the place was dead, we could here him bad- mouthing us in the kitchen. For a restaurant needing business, very un-professional. Food arrived and mix-up with entrees ? Pros: no Cons: staff, service and price more

NEW YEAR FLOP 1/5/2009

We dined New Years with friends and were not impressed. Pros: no Cons: boring menu & expensive more
