I've been to BINY a couple of times with work friends and both times we had a lot of fun. The drinks were good as was the service and the karaoke lets us forget about life for a w...

Biny's isn't the nicest place in terms of atmosphere, but I always have a lot of fun when I go there (probably because of the company). Private rooms aren't exactly cheap, so coll...

Awful service, awful food, awful drinks, awful place 10/12/2007

Rented a private room for a friend's birthday. Seating was tight and the room was kind of run down. The microphones consistently cut in and out; we asked several times to have them fixed or replaced to no avail. The speakers were pretty crappy and there was no book for songs -- you had to scroll through them on a separate screen. We first ordered drinks -- beer and saki. The beer took probably about 10 minutes to come. The saki took a half hour (and was gross). We then ordered a bunch of sushi and other things for the group to share. The sushi was edible, but not good. The other things were cold and disgusting. No one really ate anything. The service was chaotic to say the least. We had 3 different people coming in and out bringing us things, and it was unclear who to ask for what. After ordering drinks and waiting, we were unsure of whether or not we should place the order again with one of the other waiters/waitresses. The only positive thing was the check -- expensive but I feel like it could have been worse. Overall we had a good time, but there was a lot of added hassle and aggravation that would have been nice to avoid. Bottom line is that the food, service, and place itself were all sub-par. There are definitely better places to go in NYC for saki or karaoke. Not recommended. more

Rude door staff, dive bar atmosphere 1/22/2007

I went here with a group of friends a few weeks ago and even though the place looks like a dump from the street, we still decided to go inside. The door staff was rude and obnoxious and after a glimpse of the dark, dingy interior, we left. I can't comment on the food but they should certainly hire better door staff and clean up the place. Cons: staff, decor more

Best Kareoke.. 11/22/2006

Not only do they have great sushi and drinks at affordable prices, but in the main room people could partake in kareoke as well. Which makes your meal more entertaining. To find this place is a bit hard, its almost hidden on the second floor in china town but its well worth it. Also for bigger parties or any special occasion, you could call and make reservations in one of the many private rooms that they have so that you could sing freely and not embarrass your friends. Friendly staff as well. more

Group Karaoke Eats 11/14/2006

Karaoke and good drinks are the main theme at this international singing bar -- there are plenty of rooms for folks to partake their love of singing to a new level ... in Chinatown. Pros: Group Dining, Karaoke, Service Cons: Prices (For certain items), Dark Decor, Parking more

Good food, Great karaoke 9/14/2006

Went here with some friends after spotting on Citysearch. Now I'm not one for karaoke but somehow my friends convinced me to give it a whirl. The song selection was very good and the atmosphere somehow loosened me up....maybe due to the delicious drinks I was having. We sang our butts off and had a great time. Oh yeah, the food at BINY was quite good as well. more

still hung over! 9/10/2006

Private room was a blast. Staff could not have been more courteous. Drinks were plentiful and quickly replaced. American song list was extensive. My wife's 30th birthday party was truly a party. more

Super Crazy Fun Karaoke! 8/15/2006

Went for a bachelorette party, rented a private room. service was great, very nice. came right away to put in our songs. drinks took a while (and they were weak) but they all came as ordered. Food was surprisingly good. They even let us bring in outside, um, entertainment, and hooked up a special dvd drive so the ""entertainer"" could play his own music. The staff was very nice and accommodating. Overall a super fun night. Check the bill closely though b/c tip is included for large parties. Pros: private rooms, good food, pleasant service Cons: weak drinks more

Great service 5/27/2006

I was able to make a room reservation for a Memorial weekend Saturday at 4 pm for the same evening at 8pm! Our ceiling started leaking due to the sudden need for A/C as NYC went from winter to summer, but they promptly and apologetically moved us to a bigger room. Not the most compreshensive song selection, but the bar karaoke goers and my group certainly found enough songs to try. Very nice indeed. Pros: service, near subway Cons: not "self service" more

Great place for a party 1/8/2006

I recently had my friends bachelorette party here. Fifteen twenty-five year old girls took this place by storm. First of all, they honored their reservation, with no fuss. We reserved a semi-private room when we got there. Then I found out the minimum amount per hour included drinks, WOW! The music selection was good, not completely modern but I don't think karaoke always should be. We were all about bringing the 80's and 90's back. The service was great, there was always someone to bring us drinks. Everyone really had a great time. It is a great idea for bachelorette or bithday parties. Pros: Good Service, Well priced, Good Fun Cons: No ambiance more

Fabulous Bachelorette Party Spot! 7/14/2004

My best friends threw me my bachelorette party here and I had the best time!! It was the perfect space for us to sing at the top of our lungs and not worry about offending people around us. The staff gave us great, prompt service and the karaoke was easy to operate and played all night long. Everyone else looked like they were having a great time as well, and it wasn't too crowded to be uncomfortable. I highly recommend this place! Pros: Reasonably Priced, Great Space more

not shabby at all 11/16/2003

Forget about all the negative reviews. Most were probably written/posted by BINY's competitors trying to cause some ruckus. Morons. Really, BINY's a great place to just chill and relax. The atmosphere has a pretty nice vibe to it and the food is fantastic. Love the sushi!!!! As far as the karaoke...you can't go wrong. No joke. There's so many songs to choose from, and most of which are really updated. It doesn't matter if you have a large group, or just a few friends, BINY's an awesome place to go. Pros: posh atmosphere Cons: can be a bit crowded more

Feels like Toronto 9/15/2003

Having come from Toronto where Karaoke is a big part of the asian culture I must say that Biny has done a wonderful job at making the atmosphere seem almost like home. My best friend and boyfriend (fiance) both had both visited me and had their birthday parties here and could only say that it reminds them of home. I must say that it is the people that brings me back because it reminds me of Toronto (the best city in the world). more

Really great birthday party! 9/5/2003

Last night (thursday) we threw my friend a birthday party in a private karaoke room at Biny---and it was GREAT! They took really good care of us, the room was very cool--adjustable air conditioning, adjustable lights, adjustable volume of music. The music selection was ok--the corresponding videos were hysterical--the food and drinks were really good and the service couldn't be beat! Everyone had a blast--even those who ""hate"" karaoke (but secretly love it) had a great time! Pros: cool private rooms, good food, attentive service Cons: syrupy Cosmo's, outside appearance more

How can you NOT go to BINYs? 6/6/2003

BINY is the best place for singing in New York, hands down. It's reminicent of all great Karaoke bars in Asia with a GREAT selection of Chinese songs that cannot be found anywhere else in the city. Granted, their English song selection is not very extensive, but even their Engligh collection is WAY better than any other Chinese run Karaoke joint in the area. Yes, I'm a regular, because I've BEEN to all the other Karaoke bars in the city and BINY is hands down #1 in New York City. more
