Do Not Service at BI Toyota! 1/9/2013

6 weeks and $3961.94 to resurface heads, replace valves, spark plugs, water pump, timing belt, etc for my Tundra only to find a fuel leak a week later. Tech and mechanic recommends replacing cracked fuel pressure regulator estimate $3-400! I questioned the mechanic if he had to remove the regulator to resurface the heads? He says "no." I deny the service and take the truck to a friends recommendation and have the fuel regulators o-ring replaced for just a few dollars! Not happy with that! 15 months later, I replaced my tires with a vehicle inspection and they recommend replacing the water pump and timing belt. I take the estimate and the work order that was done by Big Island Toyota to Billy Watan and he shrugs his shoulder and say "well...you had a year?" Figures...just long enough for warranty to expire. Not satisfied with the response the conversation continues until he puts his hand to my face and says "good bye!" Don't know where this guy was raised but here on the Big Island, that's disrespectful and no class! I have owned a Corolla, Highlander, Tacoma and now a Tundra all purchased from off island dealership due to friends previous experience. I DO NOT recommend Big Island Toyota especially dealing with incompetent technicians such as Billy Watan and Tyler Russel! more

Big Island Toyota - Buy it from the Big Island without leaving Oahu 4/16/2006

I’ve purchased two Toyotas from Big Island Toyota. The funny thing? Neither I, nor my two SUVs, ever had to step foot on the Big Island. I conducted the entire business portion of the transaction over the phone and via e-mail. To deliver the vehicle (which had never left the dock on Oahu), my salesperson flew to Honolulu, picked me up at my office, and delivered the car at Servco’s vehicle processing center. The whole business transaction took five minutes and another half an hour was spent on explaining the various features and owners manual. Several weeks later, my salesperson met me at work and dropped off my Big Island license plates and registration. Very simple. So, if you’re on Oahu and you see late-model Toyotas with “H” license plates, you’re probably looking at someone who went the Big Island route. more
