Great dining experience 2/22/2009

Went here for my birthday with my girlfriend and we couldn't be happier. We only had to wait a few minutes for our seats. The entire dinner was perfect, I recommend the Filet Mignon. There was also a great wine selection and the waiter was more than happy to help us pick a wine that would best suit our meal. overall, we couldn't be happier with the choice and we're ready to make our reservation for our next birthday. more

Went for lunch, service was great, food delicious. Excellent branzino with vegetables, meditteranean salads and Moroccan mint tea with chocolate souffle. Very good pick. Pros: great service, great food, nice atmosphere and good price/performance ratio Cons: no cons more

Beautiful restaurant, great food, attentive service. 6/7/2008

I have been going to this restaurant for a few years now, tasted most of the dishes on the menu, and always a happy customer. Yesterday evening I ordered the recommended baked sea bass, my friends Frankie and May ordered the Filet Mignon and Soft Shell Crabs.I was a little worried for Frankie, because he is a steak-person. But he approved the steak, and that meant a lot. The wait staff crew was attentive & discreet. The place is beautiful & elegant. Will always go back! more

Cute little oasis in the middle of Murray Hill 7/2/2007

I love the look and feel of this restaurant. It's small, intimate and they serve a ""mean"" couscous -- delicious! I don't know if it's just my luck, but every time I've been there, the place was not too crowded, which made it extra special and romantic for us. Of course, you MUST finish your meal with a potent cup of Moroccan mint tea. Pros: Intimate setting, good food, romantic lighting more

A sweet find in Murrayhill, especially if you have their block of chicken dish. Staff treat you like family, and they aim to please. They add to the neighborhood's restaurant choices. Go during the week for a low key quiet meal. Come on the weekend and you'll find them packed - but some how they'll always find you a table. more

I have been coming to Barbes for about 3 years and this is a very good place. They have EXCELLENT customer service. The place is small so they can spend a lot of time servicing us. The food is solid and the area is good. They are located on a block with some pretty good bars & lounges. Pros: service, service, service more

I have been dining at Barbes since they opened and have never been disappointed. The one thing that everyone always agrees on referring to Barbes is the genuine hospitality and graciousness from the staff. The food has always been good and the atmosphere is so cozy that sometimes I hate to leave. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. Pros: Cozy atmoshpere, gracious staff, delicious food Cons: None! more

worst place ever 12/18/2006

The worst place ever. The manager & staff is so unfriendly and they complained that we didn't leave enough tip, when the bill was $240 and we left $310. That should be more then enough tip for a party of 5. Very unprofessional and very rude. Totally don't recommend. more

Shot in the Dark 7/12/2004

Normally I am the type of guy to scope out a restaurant before I go to it but sometimes you just don't have the time to. Luckily I was walking down the street looking for a place to eat and stumbled into Toledo. Truly authentic Spanish food (Spanish, not mexican) served in a quaint, old fashioned Spanish setting with great white wines and helpful service. My only complaint was that the prices were a bit high given the amount of food received (6 shrimp for $28?) but everything was excellently prepared. Pros: Food, Wine list Cons: , Portion size more
