I intended to visit Biddy's when I was recently in Portland. I had been to their old location on Hawthorne shortly after it opened years ago. Sadly, the bar has moved to Glisan St. in a pretty sketchy, unwelcoming 'hood. Street parking was easy to find but there was a homeless guy sitting outside the bar hacking up a lung all over the place. There is not much around as far as curb appeal in the area. Certainly this is not a place you'd stroll by and be drawn to like the old locale. When I saw that Biddy's was closed (at 4pm on a Saturday afternoon) I decided it wasn't worth my while. It looked gloomy and just didn't give me the welcoming vibe it had going for itself before. And Saturdays people like to have a couple of beers and some pub grub in the afternoon. What's the deal with the 5:30pm opening time? What kind of Irish bar has those weekend hours? I rate this place "poor" for the dopey operating hours and the crummy location. I'll give it an OK overall since I previously enjoyed the atmosphere and the beer at it's old address.
