THREE WORDS NO, NO, AND NO. My experience at Betsy Robinson's Bridal was horrible. The receptionist was loud, rude, and used no discretion. The owner, manager, and customer service team seemed to serve customers based on their financial perceptions of them. They can care less about doing what's right and treating customers fairly. They only care about how much money you are spending. Worst of all when it was time for me to pick up my gown. They gave me a hard way to go. They turned what should've been a beautiful experience into a nightmare!!!!! more

My experience was absolutely devastating. Unless you are a size 6-10, do NOT go to this place! My daughter, who has a figure, size 14, was told to take size 6-10 dresses, try them on the best she could and then come out of the dressing room. the dresses of course did not fit her and she was devastated and embarrassed. She felt horrible. This experience ruined our whole day. How can they expect you to buy a dress for $250.00 - $300.00 without trying it on? more

I received the worst service here and you couldn't pay me to step foot in the store again. I first visited in 2007 when I was shopping for a wedding dress and received mediocre service. I returned in October of 2012 as a Bridesmaid, looking to try on additional styles of the Amsale bridesmaid collection and eventually purchase my dress from this store. I made an appointment and showed up right on time (albeit a few minutes early). Not even sure why I bothered to make an appointment. My consultant, Maria Gordon, barely spoke 3 words to me while I was there. Since I wasn't a bride and I came alone, I was surely an afterthought. She knew she was being neglectful and she kept apologizing for her awful service. (If she knew how awful her service was, why not find someone else to help me, or why book me an appointment at such a busy time?) I tried on dresses by myself, all were over 5 sizes too big, of course no one was there to pin them for me.\r \r Before leaving, Maria was at least nice enough to write down 2 dress styles that I liked on the back of her business card. (they didn't have very many of the Amsale dresses to choose from, based on the collection on the website). I asked, based on the wedding date, when I should order the dress and Maria told me about 4-5 months out to guarantee that it would get here in time, and to make sure that my measurements would ensure a good fit and not too many alterations would need to be done.\r \r Fast forward to today, January 16th. Exactly 4-5 months out to the June wedding. I called to order my dress. I was told by Jessica (after being shuffled through 3 employees on the phone) that I would be charged a $75 rush fee for the dress. EXCUSE ME? That's surely not what the manager told me in October.\r \r I called the other Amsale dealer in the area that told me I would, in fact, be charged a rush fee if I wanted it 4-5 weeks ahead of time, but I could order the dress and get it within 2 weeks of the wedding with no rush fee if I wanted to rish it. Though the actual rush fee from Amsale is $50. Wow, Betsy Robinson, just WOW. What a bunch of crooks.\r \r If you want a good experience and if you don't want to get ripped off, I would go somewhere other than Betsy Robinson. more

At first I was very excited when I arrived for my measurements for my bridesmaid dress (8 months prior to the wedding). The woman who measured me told me I was a smaller size on top than I was in the hips so she would go with a smaller size and ""DO NOT GAIN ANY WEIGHT"" I did not gain weight because she scared me that the dress would be too tight in the hips. The dress finally is ready for me to pick up 3 weeks before the wedding. I knew that they did not do alterations for bridesmaids so I was hoping I didnt need much done. The women were all smiles and looking ready to serve when I walked in the door, but as soon as I mentioned I was there to pick up my BRIDESMAID dress, they all got very busy on the phones and told me to go sit and wait. When a girl finally brought out my dress I had to ask if I could try it on in their fitting rooms so I could see it with all the mirrors. She just pointed the way for me. Then everyone went on a cigarette break. I tried on the dress alone (which was HUGE- totally falling down and very roomy in the hips) and just walked out of the store not seeing anyone until I got on the elevator and they were all returning smelling of smoke. I called the store later to complain that I had to pay almost as much as I did for the dress for EXTENSIVE alterations (the seamstress told me the dress was very POORLY made) and the woman who answered the phone did not care. She just said, ""Thank you. Goodbye"" She did not ask who I was, who the bride was, what dress it was or anything. She just hung up on me. I will never go back there again and will tell all my friends who are getting married not to use them either. Pros: pretty dresses Cons: customer service sucks more

Horrible!!! 2/26/2009

I went to this bridal store as per the choice of the bride. I would be her bridesmaid. I went to the shop to have my measurement taken. I was surprised that when she compared the measurement to their size chart. She told me that my size would be 16. I was totally shocked because I usually run 8-10. I thought to myself that maybe I gained so fast but I'm still hesitant however I couldn't do anything. They told me that the sizes are final and they don't do alterations. Finally, when I took the gown to fit it. I was so frustrated. The gown literally fell from my body to the ground. I didn't lost nor gained any weights from the time the measurement was taken that's for sure because I wore the same jeans and shirts that I had when they measure the gown. I couldn't do anything because they don't do any alterations at all. I headed out of the shop and about to throw the gown that I paid for. Pros: ambience Cons: no focus on individuality of the measurements of gown, no follow-ups on customer if they are satisfied after the gown is fitted. more

Fantastic experience! 2/12/2009

I highly recommend Betsy Robinson's for Baltimore-area brides. I tried on gowns at several locations, and I decided to purchase my gown from Betsy because of the wonderful service I received- despite the fact that I live in DC and must travel some distance for fittings, etc. Estelle, the consultant that I worked with, was fabulous...she told me up front that she would not give me her opinion as it is my gown to choose, so I did not feel pressured whatsoever. She helped me find the perfect gown for my body type and price range, and allowed me to try several gowns on multiple times to be sure that I was indeed selecting the perfect gown for me. I completed my second fitting yesterday evening, and have had equally excellent experiences with the alterations side of the salon. The seamstress doing my alterations listened to my wishes and altered my gown exactly as I had requested- I am so thrilled with the results. Definitely consider this salon when it's time to look for a dress! Pros: great selection and service more

DO NOT SHOP AT BETSY ROBINSON'S 1/1/2008

do not go to betsy robinson's. my sister purchased a dress here. when her first fitting came up, a month or two before her wedding, the dress was 3 inches too short -- EVEN THOUGH she payed 250 for a special hallow to hem measurement. so we go for a second fitting to find out that the new dress that they supposively ordered was about 2 inches too short 2 WEEKS BEFORE THE WEDDING. the dress was made out of one piece of french lace so it was a big deal to add to it. betsy said that they could add the 2 inches to the border. my sister had no choice but to agree. my mother called priscilla of boston in tysons corner because it carries my sisters dress. the girl there said she would have offered at least a 50% discount. they were very nice and helpful. so a week before the wedding we go to see the dress. when we got there we were placed in one of the back dressing rooms where girls just try on samples. they brought out the dress with the new border sewed on to the bottom. the border did not look so bad, but it still wasnt the same. it was very noticable that it didnt belong. my sister asked betsy how she was going to compinsate for ruining her dress. betsy preceeded to say that she wouldnt knock any money off and that the dress was completely fine. a direct quote from betsy, ""the dress is even more custom"". i couldnt believe my ears. we had to talk her into not charging my sister for the hallow to hem measurement. she also said that she wouldnt charge her for the extra lace that was added to the dress. she constantly kept rolling her eyes at us. eventually she brought her husband out to talk to us. he was giving us the same answers. he was very disrespectful putting his hands in our faces and even went to grab my arm. a grown man has no place doing that to young women. we ended up just leaving paying full price for a ruined couture dress. betsy robinson is a very very VERY unprofessional business woman and i hope karma comes back to get her. more

Beautiful Selection Pushy Salespeople 8/9/2007

Went to Betsy three times to find a dress. met with the same salesperson twice, each time she used the hard sales approach to try to sell me a hideous dress, once they see you like a dress which they discern by asking ""do you love it?"" really love it? in a scary voice, they stick a veil on your head and bring you out. it is hard to leave the store without a dress. other sales people are snotty. I ended up buying a sample dress there that was dirty, with rhinestones falling off - assured that this was a great deal, I was then sold a pair of shoes (told they were $100 but they were $150.00 at the cashier) and a $300 veil. The lights, the atmoshphere and the high prices made me dizzy and I bought the stuff. Advice - walk out of this store without buying anything unless you are 100% sure. they take no returns not even on shoes or earrings. the dirty dress cost $200.00 to clean and fix. It was a size 10 I am a size 8 - they said it can be taken in easily, it cost $500.00 in alterations to fix the dirty dress. Please be careful here. I came into the store 1/2 hour after this huge purchase and they acted as if they had never saw me. Pluses: the selection is great, they tried to stay in my price range and have a large selection of designer dresses. Minus: snobby, pushy and not grateful for clients. more
