Good brazillian wax 6/29/2009

I have been getting brazillian waxes from them for a few years now and I've always had a pretty positive experience. Anyone who has gotten a brazillian wax knows how...embarrassing...the process is, but the staff has always made me feel so comfortable. They make it as quick and painless (it still hurts, don't get me wrong) as possible. Very professional and friendly. They are also very clean (always wash hands, wear gloves, don't double dip spatula in wax...). Some times they miss a few hairs and I have to touch up a bit at home, but it has never been a big deal. There is a lot of pressure to try on makeup and buy products, but I'm guessing they work on commission, so you can't really blame them. All and all, good place. Pros: friendly staff, relatively innexpensive wax Cons: lots of pressure from staff to buy products more

Don't Wax Here 9/6/2007

I don't suggest waxing here. My last brow arch left me with burns on each eyebrow, as well as eyebrows that were totally mishapen. When I asked the technician to fix the obvious hole left on one side of my brow she said she was going to "let that part grow in." What?! My brows are still burning more than five hours later. Seriously, go to a proper salon to have your waxing done. It's worth the extra $$. Pros: inexpensive and easy to book Cons: inexperienced technicians more

Love this cute make-up shop! 4/10/2007

This Benefit store is pretty small, but has an amazing selection of their products, and everything is neatly organized and easy-to-find. There is a big make-up counter for trying on products, and the staff will help you choose if you want(however, one artist applied this bronze eyeshadow on me that was definitely not the best). The makeup is quality and lasts a long time: I am a big fan of the Hoola bronzer, Moonlight highlighting cream, and uberglossy lip gloss. I also got my eyelashes tinted here once and the experience was great - my lashes were naturally dark for 6 weeks! Although there is barely any parking around here, the location is cute and by lots of other shops and restaurants. Pros: selection, ambience, services Cons: parking more

not my fav 7/18/2006

love benefit, but this location is not the best. The staff was far from friendly. If all you need is a product quickly then it's fine, but it's not what I've experienced at other benefit locations. Pros: great products Cons: poor customer service more

great cosmetics, so so boutique 7/17/2006

Although i love Benefit products I was disappointed by this boutique. Their staff was far from friendly, obviously very busy but just didn't take the time to feel like they appreciated anyone that was buying the products. I've been to several benefits boutiques as well as counters and was not impressed by this one. Pros: good make up as always Cons: poor service more

Was a real Lovely and fun experience 7/1/2005

I had to get a lip and eyebrow waxing done, and wasn't able to get into my regular salon. The Ladies at the Benefit beauty bar were great! One of the ladies made me feel comfortble and they even did a makeover for me after. The price is great and I find it and the Natural cosmetics spa something that any middle income woman can afford, yet feel like a Union square regular! I look for ward to getting back. Pros: fast friendly service, good quality, Inexpensive Cons: no parking more

Cheap, but still not worth it! 4/25/2005

I went into Benefit for an eyebrow wax recently after a long hiatus--I have had several bad experiences there. Honestly, it was the worst wax I have ever had in the city (and I have been to several places). The prices make it tempting (I think it is $11 for eyebrows), but when I left I couldnt even tell I had had a wax. The woman who did my wax took about 2 minutes, and didnt even listen to what I requested. When I got home I had to do a lot of fix up work myself. I would never recommend them to anyone--its definitely worth paying $5 or $10 more to get a job well done! more

! 9/10/2002

I have been getting "the trio" (brow wax & tint, and lash tint) at Benefit on Fillmore for several years now. Ask for Winter or Athena--although they always do a great job, no matter who takes care of you. It is a fun, relaxed atmosphere, and they are happy to help you put on some new makeup while you wait. Make an appointment ahead of time, because they are often busy. Pros: Consistency, Fun Atmosphere, Great Makeup Cons: Occasional long waits, Can be crowded more

Sparkle Plenty 5/20/2002

Feeling low? Stop in at this fun, girly shop on Fillmore and get an immediate lift--an "Ooh La Lift" in fact--which is just one of the cute, sassily named beauty products here. These are products for real-life beauty problems--from dark circles to feathering lipstick. No fake French here--instead of snooty salespeople, the staff is cheery and ready to help. And really, how can you NOT love a beauty/cosmetics company who names their self-tanner "Aruba in a Tuba" ? more
