A Caring Veterinary Office 6/2/2009

I brought my foster dog, Mercy, to this hospital. She was given to me by the rescue I volunteer for, and she had just been spayed about 4 weeks ago. I noticed her scar was getting bumpy and red, so I took her to Bellport Animal Hospital. The doctor was stern at first, as he said her stitches should have been taken out weeks ago (I wasn't told that- thought they were dissolvable!). When I explained she was my foster dog and I would have brought her IMMEDIATELY if I had known she needed care, he comped me the visit and was very kind. His sternness was a reflection of how much he cared about the animal he had only just met, and his kindness shone through. Mercy is much better now and ready to go to her forever home as healthy as she deserves to be, all thanks to the staff at Bellport Animal Hospital! Pros: Caring Staff more

Love these people 12/7/2008

Let me first just say I had made the HUGE mistake of buying a puppy from Puppy Depot of Coram. My dog was pretty much on the brink of death with all that was wrong with her. I took her to PD's recommended vet (Coram Animal Clinic) and they were such incompetent jerks. \r \r Then I was recommended to go here. They were friendly, understanding and found everything that was wrong with my poor pup and treated her. I go to Dr.Troyan who is a sweetheart and really loves her job. She took such good care of my little pup and is so gentle. \r \r I had Dr.Kangro (Cangro?) spay my little girl and her recovery was so fast. Her incision was so tiny and there were no complications. Her little scar is so small you don't even notice it. It looks like her little bellybutton.\r \r I highly recommend these vets. They are wonderful caring people.\r Pros: Late hours more

Great Vets - great with Emergency surgery & procedures 5/9/2008

I don't know about the people who work up front - a lot of times they are young kids you eventually want to break in the field but the Doctors are top notch. Just to let you know they are connected with the Sayville Animal Hospital - one in the same - same doctors.Times are different.I know the Sayville office shuts down in the middle of the afternoon to tend to the animals and procedures/operations for animals.\r My cat was two hours from dying and they removed a monster stone from her urethra and cleared almost 30 stones (crystals/foreign material) from her bladder. They also made sure to keep her at the Hospital for two extra days for observation.\r I called them Tuesday during the day left work early brought her into Sayville animal hospital at 6:00 PM - they checked her out - brought her right to Bellport with the Sayville chart in hand and by 8:00 PM she was under the knife.\r They also are very good with keeping up with all new technology and studies on ways to up keep animals health.\r The stones of my cat were sent to a lab in Minnesota to find out what she can and can't eat - basically what is causing these stones/crystals.\r Price is not cheap but not expensive - they break down everything for you - hey let';s face it animal care is expensive these days but from what I've dealt with at Garden City animal hospital & Catnips & Carrots in New Hyde Park was basically all along the same prices.\r The doctors answer all the questions and DON""T LIE. When they don't know something they say so.The doctors also explain things to you and don't treat your questions insignificantly. \r All around I give them a 9 out of 10. Pros: Two offices, experienced nice vets. Cons: Bellport office is in a seedy part of town. more

Fairly priced vet care, friendly staff 7/23/2007

Our young yellow lab got a large scratch on her eye and our experience with Bellport Animal Hospital met our expectations. The environment was clean and comfortable and the staff was friendly. Being that it was Sunday and many vet practices were closed, this company did not break the bank for an emergency visit. more

Dumb as dirt 1/10/2007

I have serious doubts about the staffs competency. On the two occasions I had an appointment and showed up, they had no record of my appointment at all. I even had a written appointment card, go figure. When I called on a separate occasion to set up an appointment for a spaying, they informed me that my kitten had missed her last appointment for shots. Considering I was there and had been billed and paid for it, again I ask, competency??!! I am taking my kitten elsewhere for spaying. Pros: very close to home Cons: lack of competency from what I have seen more

Brilliant doctors, kind staff 11/1/2006

Brilliant doctors, kind staff. I've taken my animals to Dr. Pollack, Dr. Cangro, Dr. Troyan, Dr. Wheat, and Dr. Glinka for years and would recommend any one of them. The whole staff is compassionate. Highly recommend bringing your animals. Pros: I've called around, and their prices are most inexpensive. more
