Successful treatment. I began seeing Dr. Elyse Kupperman after struggling with anxiety issues that made it difficult for me to eat. Dr. Kupperman helped me to understand the underlying issues that caused my anxiety and has identified patterns I wouldn't have noticed on my own, giving me the tools to continue noticing my own behavior outside of treatment as well. She's a great listener and I never feel like she's lecturing me like I have with other doctors in the past. I've found her to be very professional and empathetic, she is easy to talk to and our casual and natural rapport has really helped me to move past my anxiety issues. I would definitely recommend her treatment. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 6/1/2013

Rob Reiner and his team of therapists is the absolute worst, sham, fraud of a therapy experience in NYC. The therapy that was offered was so bad that after just two sessions for couples therapy (i went with my wife) we were forced to sue for medical malpractice. my first time ever suing anyone! specifically elyse kupperman was the therapist that Rob Reiner assigned us to and she was completely incompetent. She acted like a clueless intern, I question whether she is really a licensed therapist. Only recommend Rob Reiner and behavioral associates to your worst enemies! more

Doctor provides help for phobia 2/28/2011

Dr. Robert Reiner provided much needed treatment for my mouse phobia. When I first met with him, he immediately put me at ease. He listened carefully and empathetically and assured me that in the span of just a few months I would be able to have a mouse crawl on me while remaining calm. Of course, I looked at him like he was crazy and doubted that the treatment would ever be successful. But I was also sick of living in fear and so I decided to take a leap of faith and put my trust in Dr. Reiner. This turned out to be a great decision. Over the course of the treatment, Dr. Reiner slowly and gradually helped to desensitize me to mice. He had me start off by viewing images of mice before exposing me to live mice. Meanwhile, he taught me simple relaxation techniques that helped me to tolerate my anxiety during this process. He also hooked me up to biofeedback equipment to show me that I could control my body?s anxiety response ? this discovery was very empowering. Throughout all of this, Dr. Reiner was extraordinarily patient with me and helped me to feel like I was in charge of the process at all times. By the time I graduated from treatment (just a few months after I had begun treatment), I was able to have a mouse run across my foot (my greatest fear prior to embarking on treatment!) while calmly engaging in conversation. I never in a million years thought that I would be able to achieve this, considering I couldn?t even be in the same room as a mouse when I started treatment. My husband could not believe it either and feels very proud of the progress that I?ve achieved. I feel incredible gratitude towards Dr. Reiner for helping me to shed this irksome phobia that has interfered with my life for too long. I know that I could never have made these gains without his patience, expert guidance, and encouragement. I would encourage anyone who is dealing with a phobia to not hesitate to seek help from Dr. Reiner -- he is simply the best at what he does. Don?t get me wrong, the process can feel difficult at times and progress may not always be purely linear. However, if you invest in the treatment and allow Dr. Reiner to guide you than I have no doubt that you will be as successful as I have been in improving the quality of your life. more

Good psychologist 2/9/2011

I have suffered from a combination of depression and anxiety that got worse when I moved to NYC. A friend recommended to go to see Dr Reiner who evaluated my situationin the first appointment and later recommended Dr Mitchell Levy, who has said would be a good fit. I have been in treatment for 3 months. At first I did not feel comfortable to open up and talk about how I feel, but when I got to know Dr Levy I realized what a wonderful person he is and our meetings became more and more helpful. I'm not out of the woods yet but I'm more happy and relaxed than I have been in a long time, and I have a feeling things are improving in my life. more

Cured of fear of flying 9/16/2010

I have suffered from fear of flying and was referred to Dr. Reiner by a friend who had great success with Dr. Reiner's treatment. In addition to finding the treatment incredibly helpful, I also found the staff to be very friendly and up front about fees. My treatment included a session with Dr. Reiner during which we discussed the origins and development of my fear followed by ""virtual reality therapy"" in which I sat in a chair attached to a monitoring device used to monitor my breathing and heart rate. Then Dr. Reiner put virtual reality headgear on me and ran a progam that simulates an actual flight. Throughout my treatment I was taught how to regulate my breathing and was able to practice effective relaxation strategies as I experienced the various anxiety inducing events during the simulated flight. After 8 sessions Dr. Reiner told me I was ready to fly. Althugh I was nervous about the idea of flying, when I actually experienced that first flght I utilized the tecniques I learned and practiced in his office and was able to remain calm throughout the flight. As a direct resul of my therapy with Dr. Reiner, I no longer consider myself a phobic flyer. I have no doubt that every penny put into more
