Good food and a great pint of Guinness, you can't go wrong! The staff is great and more important the clientele is top notch.

fine place for a pint or two 10/8/2009

I really want to like this place but there's something about it that just isn't right. It's great that all of the bartenders are Irish and nice as could be. The owners are always in there chatting with the patrons, which gives it an old-timey feel. The drinks are reasonably priced. All good things right? Maybe it's the clientele or the lack of seating designated for drinking (there is a big restaurant area that is usually mostly empty when I'm there) or the big tvs or the bland jukebox that makes me not love the place--likely some combination of all of them--but I don't love it. It's a fine place for a pint or two, but not the sort of place that you'd want to do serious drinking. Pros: Nice bartenders, decent prices Cons: missing that certain something more

Good Atmosphere, Good Service, Lousy Food 1/18/2009

The dining area is bar adjacent, but there is a clear separation and they keep the music, which was good (generally 90's rock), at a reasonable volume. The service was good. The server was prompt and friendly and the busboy was quick and attentive without hovering and constantly reaching across the table to collect our glasses and such (I hate that). The food was mediocre at best. We started with calamari, I ordered a fish fry, and my girlfriend had the chicken and penne in vodka sauce. The calamari was about what you'd expect, fried, not bad for $9. The fish fry was a decent portion, three nice-sized pieces of scrod, and the fish itself was fresh and tasty, but it was over-battered and the crust tasted as if the fry oil hadn't been changed in a while. My french fries were undercooked and a little soggy. The vodka sauce tasted like it came from a jar, heavy on the salt and light on the flavor. This was altogether pretty expensive too, $13 for the fish fry and $17 for the penne. If I were going out just to drink, then this would be a decent place. Not exciting, but comfortable. The Irish coffee is real Irish coffee - whiskey, not Bailey's. As far as food, don't bother. Also there are televisions in the dining room. Not cool. more
