We lived here between houses for about 3 months. In that time, my 4-year-old and 18-month-old were twice nearly mauled by neighborhood dogs - once literally right at my doorstep and once as we got out of the car parked just outside our apartment, even though we lived in a pet-free building. Both times we were not even looking at the dogs - they ran right up to us and started barking at the kids because their owners did not bother with leashes. The dog owners didn't seem to care and kept insisting that their dogs were trained not to bite, as if it was my children's fault for being terrorized. My kids started having nightmares so we moved out even before our lease was up and new house was ready. There is supposedly a policy for leashes to be used at all times but it is not enforced and all management said was that they would send out a ""memo"" - no fine, no scary legal warning, no action that might have any actual consequences. My kids were lucky both times that they were not seriously hurt - just minor scrapes and a lot of nightmares - but yours might not be so lucky. This is an apartment complex where large pets and obnoxious, unapologetic, irresponsible pet owners are given preference over families with human children.
