Ordered the NY steak med-rare. Pretty standard fare - nothing exotic or out of the ordinary. The meal came with mashed potato and really tasy veg - mostly courgette(zucinni)....

Not great 4/16/2011

Ordered the NY steak med-rare. Pretty standard fare - nothing exotic or out of the ordinary. The meal came with mashed potato and really tasy veg - mostly courgette(zucinni). However the steak was poorly cooked and it was so over cooked it was almost well done . When the waitress asked the mandatory ""how is your meal"" in her robotic way she seemed surprised that I said it was ""not great"". Instead of asking me what was wrong or could they help remediate the situation she almost RAN away and then ignored me for the rest of the time I was i said...""NOT GREAT"" more

I wish I'd skipped this place 2/24/2011

I came in for breakfast and ended up paying for my food and leaving before it even came out because the waitress was so unbelievably rude. There are plenty of places to grab breakfast in Union Square, I wouldn't recommend this one. more

Blueberry pancakes in San Francisco 4/1/2009

My favorite breakfast place in San Francisco, with cable cars outside the window. Blueberry pancakes are amazing. Pros: Bluebeery pancakes more

Editorial review from GrubHub 7/10/2008

I've ordered 2x's. Breakfast one day & dinner the next. I was very pleased with the service (prompt), the menu variety & Grub Hub's customer service. All-in-all a great experience and I will be ordering again. I was particularly impressed with their fruit cup. Including papaya is very unusual for a fruit cup - particularly take-out. more

Worst Lunch Delivery I ever had 2/2/2008

Worst Delivery Food Ever!! I could kick myself for spending $30 on 2 of the worst Tuna Melt sandwiches ever eaten by a human. As I search for my $4 apple juice to wash down what can only be described as butt on hard toast, I realize that they never delivered it. Of course this was after the delivery driver, the expert in his craft that he is, called for directions. Also worth noting is the extreme confusion displayed by the person who takes your order. The idea of placing an order by phone seems to really throw her off. Man I wish I had that juice right now. Pros: Nothing at all Cons: everything about the experience more

Was great at first... 11/13/2005

We were staying at a nearby hotel, and this place was resonably priced, so we gave it a go. The older gentlemen was great, served iced water on arrival, and brought out the most wonderful sourdough bread. We ate there 5 nights, and the first two nights were great. On the third night, there was no sign of the Gentlemen. We went and sat down, and the menus were virtually thrown at us. There was no water, but it was warm. There was no beautiful sourdough bread, and when asked for a orange juice, was given a coke!! When the meals came out, I was given someone elses blueberry muffin. Then to cap it off I was given someone elses bill and credit card. Things did slightly improve over the next few nights, though we never did have any more of that sourdough bread again. Pros: Cheap, had the basics Cons: service a bit slow, top of a steep hill, tight squeeze more

Basic, simple, fare 8/6/2005

My wife and I gave Roxanne's a try as it was near our hotel and we did not have reservations anywhere. Our experience was much like the reviewer prior to us in that is was basic food adequately prepared with fair service. Nothing to really complain about or brag about. The fries were fine but the omelette was quite greasy and had a very ""bacon-ny"" taste, though there was no bacon actually in it (it was ham and cheese). The service was okay, though we did have to ask a couple times for the check (and this was not at a busy time). If you need a quick, filling lunch, it's not a bad place to go. It is more reasonably priced than most of its neighbors. Pros: quick, "solid", variety on menu Cons: service mediocre, greasy taste, "tight" quarters more

California omelett 2/13/2005

I had an omlette with apples mushrooms and Brie. Served with potetoes and toast. The waitress never refilled our water but took the plates away quickly even though the place was not crowded. Overall eatable food nothing to write home about. Pros: ok food Cons: marginal service, steep hill more
