The owner was so pleasant and helpful to two out of towners that we went back a second night of our 3 night trip to Tucson!! The food was amazing and the service was top notch! Thank you Max for an amazing pizza and taking such great care of us!! We heard about this place while making a Safeway stop for some hotel snacks.... And we will make a trip to Tucson again just to see Max and have his amazing pizza!!! more

Good pizza, very friendly service 4/8/2012

Wow, what a range of reviews here, from very good to very bad - for both food and service. I've been a customer for over 5 years and have always been met with very friendly staff and great service. In fact, the owner almost always makes a point of making eye contact and saying ""thank you"" in a very sincere way - even when he's busy doing something else. I feel they genuinely appreciate my business. I've never had a problem to address, so I can't say how they handle issues, but I've been very happy with the people there. An important aspect of a restaurant is being consistent, and Basil's To Go is very dependable on that count. If you liked your pizza last time, you'll like it next time. That said, their pizzas differ from some pizza places: the dough is flatter and less doughy (almost like it's unleavened), the pizza is less greasy, and the pieces are cut into square or rectangular shapes. My family likes this kind of pizza and we like the flavors. When we want a more juicy, drippy pizza, we go somewhere else. But when we want a Basil's pizza, we call Basil's; and we always enjoy it. more

One of the WORST pizza's ever! 1/8/2012

We ordered a large Bazil's Special and I can truly say it was one of the worst pizza's I have ever had. It was greasy, the crust was like an unsalted cracker (yes, very thin and dry) and the overall flavor was terrible. The pizza was overcooked, with some burnt cheese on it. You may as well buy a frozen Jeno's pizza at the Safeway across the street and take it home and eat it. It is bad too but at least you aren't spending almost $20 on it. Save your money and taste buds, go to the Pizza Hut that is a block away. We ended up throwing away 90% of the pizza. Some people even returned their uneaten pieces to the box (Bazil's cuts it into small sqaures too, what's up with that?) more

Delicious food, good pizza (if it isn't swamped with cheese) 1/14/2011

I've know Max Bazil for years, and he's taken very good care of me and my family. (The Rolled Eggplant is to die for!) @Suzy0122 - I've seen you on several review sites bad-mouthing Bazil's. It sounds to me that you've never actually been to Bazil's To Go. If you had, you'd know that the customer service they give when they accidentally make a mistake is superb. Their delivery boys are always courteous, and the pasta dishes I order are always fresh. It's not too much hassle to pay by cash. Besides, it's posted on the website that it's cash or check only. And, if it is too much of a hassle to remember, there's an ATM close by. more

Awful Experience 10/15/2010

10/15/2010 I have been a customer for 3 years at Bazil’s to go, since I moved to Tucson. The Pizza is pricey but generally pretty good except for two things: THEY DON’T USE ENOUGH SAUCE AND TOO MUCH CHEESE! I ordered a pizza a few months back with “less cheese and heavy sauce” and it turned out great. I have made that same request 3 times since and each time there was barely any cheese on the pizza. The last time I returned it and attempted to see if I could order my pizzas in a better way. The owner didn’t ask me how I wanted to remedy the situation, in fact he didn’t even speak directly to me. He barked at the cashier to “Tell him to make it himself! Throw the pizza away and give him back his money!” \r \r She did, most of it anyway. She refunded $16 even of $17 and change bill. I was so mad that I didn’t count the money until I got to Papa John’s 520 299-3232. Who by the way made me a great pie for $12 with a smile.\r \r Now I’ve been in this establishment enough that he (owner) knows me by first name. I never write reviews, but was compelled to write one after this service. After reading some of the other reviews, I wonder how Bazil’s to go stays in business? Apparently, they charge enough to not miss me or the other review writers on this page. \r \r Rob more

Bazils to go 6/21/2010

Have had Pizza, Spaghetti, meatball sandwiches, Italian sandwich. All good but with what seems to be day-old-bread. Called to suggest something fresher but was met with semi-rude ""It's fresh every day"" Even if it is fresh the bread is still not much good pal.\r \r Pros: Steady, good food with fair prices Cons: Stale bread more

Best Pizza in all of Tucson 10/7/2008

I have been eating Bazil's pizza since mid 1990's and have never tasted better anywhere! Even living in a different part of town (15 miles away) if I am in the area I always stop to get a pizza there and it always makes the trip worth while. Try it and you will see!!!! Pros: Best tasting pizza more

Bazils Special is the best 9/13/2008

Hi, Yes It is a CASH only place. Very Small.....So, get over it.....\r Bazils Special is the way to go, getting two tonight for a Pool night...\r Everything is super fresh, the OWNER has been there for years....A pizza kitchen, and that is all it is. Is a pretty hot place and maybe it was a bad day....\r No reason not to go back. I have never seen any display of temper from him or any of the crew...\r He has been there for more than a decade......That says a lot.....\r cya Pros: Fresh veges Cons: Cash Only more

Worst customer service I've ever seen 7/6/2008

Yes, the pizza is decent. However, I had such a horrendous experience with what I assumed to be the owner, I will never go there again and am advising all of my friends and family to stay away. My father very gently and politely recommended that they remind customers on the phone that they don't take credit cards, and the owner instantly became terribly sarcastic, defensive, rude, and downright inappropriate. He scolded my sweet father and snapped that we had no right to tell him how to do business, when all my father did was innocently make a sensible suggestion. The owner then began to launch even further on his tirade, snapping that his pizza is a bargain at ""only"" $15 a pizza (we never even complained about the price, so why he began snapping about this is beyond me). Believe me, the pizza's not bad, but I've had much better for that price. I can't believe he couldn't even take a constructive (and politely suggested) criticism, and yet we left after his 5 minute rant at us feeling bewildered that this business is still open. Please, stay away from this business and give the business to someone who still treats the customer like the way a customer should be treated. I've never, ever seen worse customer service. Pros: Decent food Cons: Terrible and rude customer service, on the pricey side more
