Boston Marathon 4/11/2012

I rarely review online but wanted to extend a recommendation and really a thank you to the folks at Bay State PT in Southie. I developed plantar fasciitis training for my first Boston Marathon this year. The pain was so bad at times I thought I was getting stabbed with an ice pick in my heel. My podiatrist gave me some advice on how to control for inflammation but suggested PT. At first I was skeptical but quickly learned how valuable it was to get skilled treatment for this diagnosis. A combination of manual therapy, stretching, and ultrasound helped get me back on the road within 3 weeks. Without their help I might have not been able to finish my long runs and prepare for the marathon. Thanks again to the staff at Bay State, you saved me! more

Best physical therapy from MA to ME that I have ever had. 11/15/2011

Go in for the 1st visit/consultation with Lauren, like I did, and you'll see right away. She's not just smart and doesn't just answer your questions; it's the way she answers them too and the programs she uses. I knew 1/2 way through the 1st visit that I was dealing with someone and a business unlike the 13 other physical therapists/offices I've seen over the years. I will never need to go to another physical therapy office nor will I ever. Lauren, Mike and Bret are God sends!\r \r Lauren showed me how to align my SI joint just by walking up stairs and pushing my knees together. Sounds weird, but it works every time! I'm so grateful I don't have to feel that grinding pain in my low back. The only adjustments are those that are necessary to do the physical therapy exercises like if your knee cap shifts after many low weight repetitions so I even found those beneficial and done only to remove any kinks.\r \r *Rotations (done with SAFE form always) and working with the body's own weight.\r *Traditional weights are used PLUS bands, tubes, rollers, balls, TRX and balance boards.\r *Can buy athletic and therapy equipment cheaper than in stores.\r *Customer service- The receptionist, Tammy, really went out of her way to get my insurance coverage (took months to resolve-I didn't have to do a thing.) Bret excused something like 13 uninsured visits since I'm out of work.\r \r Office location in the YMCA is great! The Y let's you take advantage of other services while you're there for PT. Overall: Even in an economic recession, Bay State Physical Therapy is not about $ but about quality. more
