This has to be the most poorly run business int he whole city. The problem starts with the owners and then runs down through the employees. Do yourself a favor and just call someone else. more

FRAUD! FALSIFIED DOCUMENTATION! 9/8/2011

My husband and I just recently purchased a home. After the inspection we were told that something was wrong with the blower on the spa and the inspector submitted a report that showed that the spa did not work. We requested that along with a few other things that issue needed fixed and seller agreed to take care of it.\r \r Well we are moved in and spa still doesn't work. Bay Area Pools in League City was suppose to do the work and I requested a invoice which I received that showed work was done and invoice dated 3/1/2011. I told the seller's agent that we did not even ask for the work to be fixed until August. She then sent me another invoice after she said she spoke with them again and told me the other was a typo and she said she was sending the correct invoice. This is the same EXACT invoice and you can clearly see where they have taken the ""3"" and put a line in front of the ""3"" to make it a ""8"". The line ink is even darker than the rest of the number. So they are trying to say the work was done as seller requested in August. \r \r We have called Bay Area Pools and have been told twice that they would be out to fix the spa and they never showed up or called. They do not return our phone calls. \r \r So now the seller and Bay Area Pools are going to be facing a lawsuit. more

This is the second time I've give them a chance. They buildt the pool it's only 10K gallons. I let them go before because of lousy service. When my regular guy broke his leg we called them back. Their service is horrible. They are rude, and lazy. The service manager came to the house twice and wouldn't service cause water aws low. There was a hose and spicket 5' away.he beven had a another guy with him, he wouldn't fill the pool said he had too many jobs....................I told him he has ONE LESS now. Geez.............. more

Great Service & Wonderful People 4/18/2010

I've read the other reviews & I am truly shocked. We have used Bay Area Pools for over 6 years & we have always had wonderful service from them. I've NEVER had any issues with someone not answering the phone, we've never had a problem with someone coming out to the house to fix a problem. After reading the other things mentioned I honestly thought that I must have been reading about a totally different company! As a caveat, I will say that we did not have our pool installed by Bay Area Pools, but with that being said, we were first time pool owners and truly knew NOTHING about how to run, clean or maintain a pool. They have taken the time to teach us everything. They have always tested our water for free & tell us everything that we need. I realize that other places do this also, but BAP takes the time to explain the readings to us & not just push the sell of the chemicals. They also ALWAYS carry all of our things to the car & load it for us. Who else does that?!?! As I said, we have used them for over 6 years, from everything from just cleaning the pool, to purchasing & maintaining our Polaris (after our dog ate it several times!), a new D.E. filter and of course all of the general maintenance. I am truly sorry that others have had such horrible experiences & I certainly don't know why. However I would have to think that we are just one of many very satisfied customers that would never think of using anyone else. We love the customer service, the attention to detail & the fact that they are always willing to help us (over & over again!). As a matter of fact, when we needed new parts for our Polaris, we only had to pay for the parts, they have always repaired it (labor) for free. Again, I don't know. But, I can tell you that we have always had amazing customer service & I recommend them to everyone we know. Hope this helps. Pros: Excellent Customer Service, Excellent Knowledge Great People Cons: None. Never have had ANY bad experience. more

SAME BAD SERVICE 2/24/2010

Bay Area Pools came out to replaster some tiles that had fallen off our pool. He took one of the tiles with him to see if he could find a match. He never called back and never returned to do the work. We didn't even get the missing tile back. Horrible customer service. Cons: NO FOLLOW-UP more

NEVER Again! 6/27/2009

We sent our Ray Vac in to be fixed. The guy said that it would cost $200. I told him that was my upper limit. When he called to say it was done, he said the bill was $400 ... for a Ray Vac! ... because it is no longer in production, and parts are expensive. So, we went to pick it up, and the price then was $450 + tax, which ended up being $495 ... a long way from the original $200. He replaced parts that were still working, and put a connector on it for a Polaris, NOT a Ray Vac, so that it won't connect to the wall of our pool. Mrs. Lee would only agree to taking off enough of the replaced parts to bring the cost back down to $200 and sending someone out next week to connect it to the pool for us, while not guaranteeing that it would even work, now. We've been customers for over 10 years, as BAPS built our pool. We'll be going elsewhere, now. Her employees lie to her, and she believes them. Cons: Liar, liar, pants on fire! more

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE 5/8/2009

I had the same experience as kjackson02. I have never written a review on the web and signed up just so I could add to this. Poor, poor customer service. I am going to pickup my part and go elsewhere. They give mom and pop businesses a bad name. What a shame. more

Love our new pool 6/9/2008

We had shopped with many local companies before deciding on building our pool with Bay Area. They were a little more expensive, but after seeing the difference in the quality of our pool and the pool my brother -in-law built with another company, I'm glad we made this choice. Very nice people to deal with, great design and we love our pool. more

great service-beautiful pool 5/9/2008

We had built another pool with a local company (that shall remain nameless) and decided to go with Bay Area when we built our new house in League City. Not only was the design exactly what we had asked for, the finished product is beautiful! We received information all through the building process as to what was going to happen next, the crews were very professional and I Have recommneded them to friends and family. Pros: local, long time experience more

Worst Service EVER! 12/10/2007

Bay Area Pools service is by far the worst service I have ever received from any company. My pool was installed with little problems but after the installation was complete and I began to have problems it was a nightmare getting someone out to my house to take care of anything. Their phone is constantly busy and you have to make at least 3-4 phone calls to get an appointment for a service technician to come out to your house to access the problem. It usually takes 2 weeks before you can get scheduled for an appointment. If you call and ask to speak with Lee (the owner), she never returns your phone calls. I have had several friends over the last 3 years ask me for advice on whom to have install their pools and everytime I tell them.......DO NOT USE Bay Area Pools! Their follow up after the pool is installed is horrible! more

Service Terrible - DO NOT USE THEM, FIND SOMEONE ELSE 1/10/2007

They installed our pool in 2003 and while the initial work was good their service is terrible. We have had numerous problems with our heater and despite numerous calls it takes them two - three weeks to get out to fix it and they have consistently failed to fix it on the first trip. They are now admitting they installed a bad heater and our best bet it to replace it for $2500.\r \r \r \r Update: Our filter literally blew it's top two weeks ago (1 week after they worked on it). They said they would have to order a new one and it would take up to two weeks but they would try to rush it. Two weeks later I called and they had trouble even finding the work order. They said they would make sure someone did it this week. Realize I know have a science experiment instead of a pool in my backyard due to the fact I have not been able to circulate water for 17 days without dumping as much on my lawn as I add in using the hose. Their service was just bad it has gone to horrible. DO NOT USE THEM, FIND SOMEONE ELSE. more

Best Pool built, best service! No Questions Asked! 10/21/2006

We built our pool in 1999, with the wrong company! Huge mistake, they were bankrupt by the end of the project. Even though the pool was paid for by us, there was a lein on our home for the balance. \r \r We moved in 2002, we hired Bay Area Pools, They did a perfect job! They have also been here for us for any little problem now ... four years later. Continue to give great service.\r \r They have served this comunity for many, many years, and will continue to do so. There price was very competitive, so why use a fly-by-night company? You have a solid Mom and Pop organizatoin that treat you like family.\r \r Signed: a very happy customer more

Poor customer service 1/7/2006

I called Bay Area Pool & Spa to get a part for my pool pump becuase I wanted to give a ""mom and pop"" business a try; big mistake. I was told that the part would be in within five days. About two weeks later, still no part. The bad part is that the employees at Bay Area Pool & Spa have no idea of what keeping the customer informed means. I called them. They did not call me like they said that they would. I will not shop there anymore. I will go back to the ""big"" pool store where I have never had a problem with customer service. more
