Editorial review from Citysearch 2/10/2014

Dexter, my 10 year old pomeranian, scared the heck out of me today. He got sick and then he could not breath and he fell over in the hall. He was struggling so bad to breath so I quick looked up the closest vet to me and it was Barclay Hills Veterinary Clinic here in Oregon City. \r \r I grabbed up Dexter and his health records and drove over there with my stupid chains on my car. I flew in the door with him and let them know I did not have an appointment and they were so calm and were like no problem and lead me to a room. \r \r The Vet named Amanda was awesome. She assured me that I was not being a freak and that he had a cold and his lungs sounded a bit heavy. She suctioned his nose and put him on two antibiotics. The whole thing cost me $88.40. So reasonable, I was expecting $300 at least. \r \r Dex has a new vet and I could not be more happy. He is home doing much better now. Had his meds and some rice and is happily sleeping. Not at all what I expected today. more

Busy place, great animal service, fair 3/29/2012

Busy place, great animal service, fair customer service. No after hours services, no email addresses, (not even a generic one on the website) to communicate via email, so you have to talk to the receptionist who doesn't really know anything, then leave a message or interrupt a vet to get a question answered. Offering email communication would be a huge plus. more

We have been going to Barclay Hills for 12/30/2011

We have been going to Barclay Hills for 26 years and have sent all of my family members there, as well as a lot of our friends and business acquaintenances. All of my animals have been fixed there, my saint had knee surgery, and I take my dogs there to have their toenails clipped, because it is about the same price as a groomers. I have taken in a cat with a broken jaw, another cat that had to have 20 stitches (both emergency visits), taken my saint bernard in for teeth cleanings and knee surgery, all my animals were fixed there, etc. They are on my speed dial!) One of our customers had a dog that kept getting a abcess, his vet said 3,000 for exploratory surgery, Dr. Ferro took one look, told him what it was and the total cost of the surgery would be (and was) 800!! My sister had one of her dogs get knee surgeries from Dr. Ferro as well. I know of others that have gotten their dogs teeth cleaned there also. We saw Dr. Ferro exclusively for years, and now we see Dr. Tinsley a lot, she loves my giant breed dogs... I trust either of these vets with my dogs! In 26 years of taking my pets to Barclay Hills, I have never had a complaint about them! more

This Clinic offers the BEST CARE for your animals. 11/5/2011

I was refered to this Clinic well over a year ago. Dr. Doug F. and the Staff ""ASIA"" and other are nothing but amazing. I started with my English Mastiff's because this vet Doug F. has a great deal of history with GIANT breeds. He is thought of being one of the best in the North West with reproduction on breeding services of these hard to understand nobel dogs. He was nothng but the best with the quality and delivered ""SIX"" healthy English Mastiff pup's C-section. They all thrived and are doing well at over a year old now. As a quality breeder of English Mastiff's and English Labrador's I feel at ease knowing he is behind me no matter what. They are allways willing to get me in as quick as needed and I never walk away feeling like I paid to much for the services I got. If anything I feel he is one of the only ""FAIR"" priced vet's with the old school feel and the down to earth approuch. I refer Friends that are also breeders, My boss and also people that adopt a pup from me. He does all my litter checks and always has something new to share with me or teach me. I like this clinic so much. BIG BUCK EYE MASTIFF'S & NOTH STAR LABRADOR'S. -Christine Gamache Larson. & Family ""5 STAR ALL THE WAY"" more

16 Years of Steady, Compassionate Care 6/22/2011

For the past 16 years we've taken our cats to Barclay Hill Animal Clinic. Rescues, purebreds, mixed breeds. You name it - spay and neuters, injuries, cancer and yes having to put a beloved cat down- Barclay hills has always been there with ready see us on a moment’s notice. The staff has always been compassionate, considerate and professional . The cost of treatment has always been more than reasonable. We would hate to have find to find a new Vet – Barclay Hills has always been there for us - we plan on being Barclay Hills Animal Clinic patients for another 16 years. more

BAD STAFF 2/25/2011

It is too bad that someone really thinks that this vet clinic is the best; decided to delete my comment that I placed before. Well, guess what? I am going to post it again so people know what a JOKE a few of the Vet Techs are. Dr. Ferro may be a great vet; however, he is an incompetent business man for hiring some of his staff. I have been disrespected so deeply by a few of them that I have now chosen to take my business elsewhere. They are not helpful when I ask questions and always seem too busy to give me the attention I am paying for. My pets are important to me and I am sure you pets are too. Trust me, if the one with the 'attention complex' is not there; things may go smoothly for you. However, if she is there (you cannot miss her: always loud, obnoxious and needs attention from the color orange) your experience will drop. Your best bet is to not go there. I have complained in the past and she is still there; so I found a new vet. To the person who ever deleted my last post here; go ahead, I am going to repost till my fingers fall off because people need to know. GOOD VET WITH HORRIBLE STAFF!! more

BARCLAY HILLS ANIMAL CLINIC STINKS 1/21/2011

The worst customer service in the world. The fat orange one needs to drop her snotty attitude along with the retarded kennel girl beatrice. Cannot believe how people who make 30K a year have such an attitude towards someone who supports their pot consumption habit. more

our vet for 20 years 12/22/2007

When we first moved to West Linn we went to a vet who extracted teeth and wanted to run expensive tests on a dog who obviously had cancer. We took her in for euthanasia but couldn't deal with the young euthanizer, the metal table or the thought of what do to with the body. That was Dr. Fredericks. So we brought her home. A house call vet came over and pronounced terminal cancer and euthanized her in the comfort of our back deck. After that we sought advice from our neighbors and discovered Barclay Hills and Dr. Ferro, a few miles farther away in Oregon City but fair, humane and reasonable. As well he has a private clinic so there is consistency and continuity as opposed to a franchise vet very close to us. He is convenient to Clackamas County Animal Shelter, so in case a mishap befalls your escaped dog, as it did to one of ours, the injured animal will wind up there. We have always had, as the other reviewer notes, same day service, no upselling of unnecessary services but thorough attention to needed tests. Barclay Hills does not handle small birds but referred us to Gladstone Veterinary Clinic on McLaughlin, where we also impressed with the care (and the new decor!) Pros: private clinic, reasonable, personal more
