I've been to Bamboo Garden restaurant quite a few times, however today marks the last day of me being a loyal customer to this restaurant.
I arrived earlier today at around 11 in the afternoon for some lunch, I ordered 2 chicken fried rice and 2 chicken lo mein that I was going to share with my friends.
There was a woman already there waiting for her order, she had mentioned that it was her first time ordering the curry. The waiter at the counter said it wouldn't take long. The woman thought it was weird that her order came so fast, she asked if it was leftovers from the day before. The waiter said yes, that they keep it frozen and it's still good.
The woman said to him, ""that's really brave to tell people you're selling leftovers."" He assured her by saying, ""curry don't spoil."" Then she asked about the Chinese food if it was cooked fresh, (since I was ordering the Chinese food I wanted to know what this ""honest"" waiter was going to say. He said the Chinese food they cook fresh. I really should've just cancelled my order. But I didn't, I took the guy's word for it that it was fresh. I could see the chefs cooking in the kitchen, so I didn't feel that worried.
My thoughts quickly changed when I got home.
The lo mein was ok, it didn't smell rotten. But the rice... the rice was so sticky it was like gum or flour was mixed into it. It thought maybe they didn't wash out their rice, my friends and I ate it anyway. We had spent nearly $40, most of us were Bamboo Garden customers so we didn't expect them to sell us rotten food.
Turns out the food really was on the verge of being rotten, 3 out of 5 of us got diarrhea from it. We had left some leftovers in the fridge for my sister, when she got home for it only an hour later it hit it's expiration mark. Rotten!
I'm highly disappointed, I know their Liberty Avenue branch closed down due to failed health inspections. That was the reason why I go out of my way to go to the Atlantic avenue one; it's the same thing you get from both. Rotten, or partially rotten leftovers. Disgusting.
Honestly, I grieve for the $34 wasted. I know going back to fight with them about it wouldn't have solved anything, they shouldn't have sold rotten food in the first place. The knowledge that I know now of them selling leftovers and rotten food, just makes me want to not bother continuing my patronage to their store.
