everything they're saying is true 5/9/2012

do NOT do business with this ""company"". they are staffed completely by the obsessive compulsive dredges of society with the worst power trips I have ever seen. let me drop another name. Danielle. she is the most ignorant, arrogant for no reason, character flaw I have EVER met. when I updated my employment information I was under the impression previous data would be properly ignored. I was late last month and they sent someone to my old boss asking when I was going to pay my bill >( ugh! they were like, .... that person does not work here any more. so then they sent ANOTHER PERSON TO TAKE PICTURES OF THE ESTABLISHMENT. !?!?!? and began auto-redialing their number? they continued to call them the three days I was late demanding to speak with me, and here I am at home thinking about everything except my old boss! what the ___ is wrong with these people? yes, they also ""lost"" my holiday paperwork, and that was the beginning of the madness for me. stupid people. stupid company. stupid me for getting myself in this situation. STAY AWAY from these pariahs! more

Worse Company ever 4/17/2012

This company MAKES you pay your bill through a fee for payment company. They offer no website or phone number to pay without paying the $9.00 fee. The $9.00 is still less than the late fee. I resent having to pay a fee to give a bank my money. If I could give Balboa Thrift & Loan less than 1 star I would. BY FAR the worst bank ever. Hector Godoy who is one of the managers, should NOT be working for a bank or anywhere else!!!! He is rude, unprofessional, aggresive, arrogant, inconsiderate and a loud mouth jerk!!! He would not listen to me or let me speak. He barked orders at me and told me that he did not care. He should be fired and Balboa Thrift & Loan should be more careful with who they hire. DO NOT express any interest in this bank. They do not value a customer at all. Go elsewhere I sure wish I can find that corn cob and pull out of that ladies but, I have never been treated so poorly by a company in my life! I'm selling my car just so I wont have to deal with them anymore! more

Legalized Loan Sharking 5/2/2011

I am so glad I traded in my car and now have a new finance company. Don't dare be a day late on your loan payment or they will call every contact number they have in your file. If they can't reach you they will have someone hand deliver a deliquent notice to your home address which is a $50 charge added to your account. more

DO NOT GET YOUR LOAN HERE! 12/22/2010

I don't even know where to start. I've had the worst experience with this bank than I've had with any company EVER! Apparently they feel that they've done you a huge favor by giving you a loan and proceed to treat you like you are the scum of the earth! I purchased my vehicle almost a year ago and have made on time payments each month as I am trying to rebuild my credit. Last month, I unintentionally made a payment that was $30 short. Today, I had a Balboa Bank representative SHOW UP AT MY DOOR! He stated that he was sent to ask me about problems on my account. Fortunately our offices were closed today, for the holidays, or I fear he would have showed up at my job! I was obviously puzzled as to what was going on and the ""representative"" had very little information so he called the manager Hector. Hector got on the phone literally screaming at me that my account was past due. When i tried to find out why my account was past due, his response...""that's not up to me to figure out it's your loan"". After 10 minutes of him yelling at me he finally admitted that I did, indeed, make a payment last month however it was $30 short which prompted this entire debacle. He followed that, however, with ""I don't care about the $30, I care about the $16,000 loan!"" This just happened so I'm still too much in shock to go into much more detail of this experience but let's just say I am about to shop around to have my loan refinanced elsewhere. Just wanted to give a fair warning to anyone thinking about signing with Balboa Thrift and Loan. Take it form me, it will be a HUGE mistake! more

worst bank EVER!!!!!!!!! 10/15/2010

i have NEVER had so many issues with a bank ever. i got a loan for my car with this bank and the first week after i got approved for the loan i got a phone call from the bank asking for so much personal information that i have never even heard of a bank asking for and it was a pain to have to find all this information. Then during the holidays they have a thing where you can skip your December payment to have extra cash for the holidays which i thought was pretty cool. well i faxed over the signed paperwork and was happy to have the extra cash for the holidays. well a couple of days after christmas i get a phone call from balboa saying that they lost my paperwork and because it was past the deadline i needed to make my payment immediatley and by then my January payment was due so they were looking for two payments right after christmas. i was so upset at how they made it my fault that they lost my paperwork. after talking to the rudest loan officer i asked to speak to a manager, bad idea, he was even worse. their excuse was that it is there policy that any paperwork that isn't filed by the deadline it is not aloud to be filed in which the offer was now not valid and there was no way they can help me even though they were the ones who lost my paperwork and said that if the payment wasn't turned in immediatly there would be a late payment.i was so upset at the lack of customer service. so now almost a year later i have decided to sell my car to my brother. excited to finally not have to deal with these people. well i call the bank to get a copy of the title or a letter of guarantee and the lady on the phone tells me that i shouldn't be the one calling for that information that new bank needs to call them. so my brother has his bank call to get the information they need to complete the loan and the idiots at balboa refuse to give them information saying they don't need it, so my brothers bank gets fed up and expires his loan in which i cant sell my car now. i will NEVER recommend this bank to anyone. god forbid you make a car payment late they will harass you all day. they just are horrible people and i will not buy a car before i get a loan with them!!!!!!!! more
