lots of choices 1/6/2008

This restaurant has lots of choices for vegetarians.I have tried lots of Mexican restaurants in the area, and none of them have vegetarian tamales! They are to die for at Aztecas Mexican Restaurant!! I had the Aztecas Special, with two taquitos, the menu called for chicken, beef (i asked to hold the beef),beans ,rice, and everything was topped with lots of lettuce, pice de gallo and jalpanenos. This dish was so good, and just when you think it can't get any better-- wow down under all the toppings was a tamal! I suggest everyone to try this place out. My friend also suggest that you try the Taco de Carne Azade. By the way,the service great, very friendly and helpful. We 're making a point to eat there once a week. more

Willing to go back again 12/12/2007

I must say I was very disappointed. I am from Mexican descent, and I cook mexican food at home. So When I order a combination plate, because I wanted a variety of food . It was covered with lettuce. I could not see what I had ordered. After taking the lettuce off, I discovered that the tamale that was on my plate was only the masa, there was no chicken in it. I relayed this to our server, she brought me a plate of chicken and said they had forgotten to put it on top. This was not a trational tamale, the meat is steamed right in side the masa. The chef did come out to explain why they do it this way, but I was not happy with his explanination. My partner was happy with his meal. In the mean time I have found a restraunt in the area, that serves the traditional style of Tamale, they are very good, I have even purchased them a dozen at a time for home. Service was good setting was good. I will try it again but this time order something different. more

Best Mexican Food in Albany 6/20/2007

I have never written a food review before, but this place is so great, I just had to tell others about it! I am a Mexican Food aficionado, and as soon as I realized that there was a new Mexican restaurant in town, I had to run and try it out. I was not disappointed! First of all, we were greeted and seated when we first walked in the door. There is a very comfortable relaxed atmosphere about the place which was nice. Our beverage orders were taken quickly and we were then given a delicious bowl of salsa with chips. The menu was filled with such a variety of foods, many of which I had never seen on a Mexican restaurant menu before, and each one just made me want it more. The food was fantastic and the prices were extremely reasonable. The service was amazing as well, very prompt, courteous, and friendly. We returned to eat here just one week after or first visit just to experience the wonderful food again. We are so happy we did! Pros: Friendly and prompt service, great food more

Best and most authentic Mexican food in Albany 6/2/2007

Azteca's is the place for the best, most authentic Mexican food in Albany. In addition to all the usual Mexican menu items, they have a wide range of authentic Mexican dishes. (The carnitas are to die for!) And everything can be made as hot or as mild as you like. Very casual and comfortable atmosphere, great food, attentive service, good parking, a nice selection of inexpensive wines, and oh yes, ice-cold cerveza -- definitely the best Mexican restaurant in town. Pros: As hot or as mild as you like; excellent value more

Best Mexican Restaurant Outside of Mexico 5/21/2007

I have been a customer since September of 2006, and have not left. I may as well call this my second home. Azteca's has the best food; I would dare to say in a 100-mile radius. The rice alone leaves you wanting more and more. Yes something as minor as the rice is THAT GOOD. Now, just imagine the rice smothered in a nice, mouthwatering cheese sauce with chicken or beef on the top. That, my friend is what?s called Pollo Fundido one of Azteca?s biggest sellers. And if you want a real burrito, you have to try the super burrito. That is stuffed, and I do mean stuffed with meat and refried beans. I'd say it's about a foot long. It is covered with ranchero sauce (red). Well, I think you pretty much get the idea. So, I?ll close by saying this? if you want to feel right at home come down to Azteca?s Mexican Restaurant, where mi casa es tu casa. Pros: Good food, nice vibe, excellent people, and the best service. Cons: Needs to be next door to my house. Although I am working on that... LOL more

Authentic Mexican 4/21/2007

Azteca's provides delicious, fresh and authentic Mexican food. Each table is offered tasty chips and salsa. The meals are moderately priced and very satisfying. Also, the service is friendly and attentive. I usually visit a couple of times a month, and it's always a great expereince! Pros: Food and service Cons: parking might be an issue, although I generally find a spot, and its very walkable from downtown and lark more
