Fast delivery and the food awesome. Hot even - temperature wise.

My husband and I stopped here during lunch time. One woman walked in right ahead of us, making us the only three people in the entire restaurant. The hostess/waitress was extrem...

Great Service Good Inexpensive Food 10/15/2007

They treat you like family(and not in a bad way). The quality for the price can not be beat. Not pretty, just good. more

best chinese found in pdx so far 8/3/2007

Despite the ChinaTown in PDX, I still favor August Moon on 23rd for a good meal. The price is right, service attentive and specials yummy. You'll quickly get addicted to the Crispy Tofu, Tofu Vegetable Soup and array of other tofu dishes. The booths are cozy and it's also right off a bus line if you don't feel like driving. They have a parking lot but it only fits about 3 cars at a time. Overall, it's consistently good and better than a lot of the other ""authentic"" Chinese places I've come across since moving from NYC. The manager is very nice and will remember you after even one visit. Pros: Great meals every time Cons: parking. more

a bit pricey for so-so food... 7/22/2007

Reviews made it seem ok, but there's plenty of better chinese places out there. Ordered the general tso's chicken, Hot and Sour soup, and egg roles. Soup and egg roles were fine. The chicken was all dark meat which I find to be sub-par for a specialty item. I don't plan on going back. Pros: quick turnaround on a take out order Cons: food not so good more

Best Chinese delivery in town 7/29/2006

While their ambiance may not be the best, we love August Moon for take-out. They are quick and curteous, and the food is great. Pros: Fast delivery, even on holidays. Cons: Ambiance is not great (food is though!) more

long wait for delivery 7/16/2006

ordered delivery kung pao chicken it took a hour and a half to get here than tasted moderate and not spicy at all. just ok food Pros: delivery Cons: took a long time waiting for food more

Best Chinese Food in Portland - esp for the price 5/17/2006

I've eaten here at least 100 times since I moved to PDX 10 years ago. No restaurant with such a huge menu does everything perfect. My favorites here are green bean pork, egg flower soup, vegetables deluxe, lemon chicken, sweet and sour anything, broccoli beef, and all chow meins. The atmosphere is a little dingy but 100x better than any place in ChinaTown. Just don't use their bathroom. Service is fast and reliable. Pros: Food Cons: Parking more

Favorite of mine 7/2/2005

It was also surprising for me to see the bad reviews posted. I've eated at August Moon since it opened, and really enjoy it. I'm a big fan of Chinese food and have found theirs consistantly good. I agree that their General Tso's is not the best I've had, but their sesame beef is what I measure all others against. I was also pleasantly surprised by their honey walnut prawns. I'd recommend this place without hesitation. Pros: food, friendly service, fast more

Tell all your friends! 4/2/2005

Moving here from the midwest, I greatly missed the fantastic Chinese restaurants from the Chicago area. I was very disappointed at the less than satisfying Chinese restaurants here in Portland, until I tried this restaurant. The atmosphere is cozy and the booths are comfortable. Everytime I've eaten here I get the sweet and sour chicken and the waitress gives us complimentary white rice. The chicken has always been very plump and filling, not crunchy and full of fried at like I've found at most Chinese restaurants here and the sweet and sour sauce is perfect with a large amount of pineapples and other goodies mixed into it. This is my favorite Chinese restaurant I've found so far. Oh and you also don't cringe when getting the bill, it's very reasonable for the nice service and delicious food! Pros: Prompt service, Nice hosts, Cozy feeling more

Can't believe this place has gotten bad reviews! 3/23/2005

I just stumbled on this place and it has the best Sesame Chicken in town! It's all fresh chicken breast meat with no fat and it's not breaded or greasy! The Hot and Sour soup is consistently great too! I think the other people giving reviews are eating the wrong dishes. Its a good thing I didnt read them before I found this little gem. We now bring friends here from out of town and their shrimp dishes, broccoli with beef, etc. have all been terrific! The service is superb and even if the atmosphere is somewhat of a hole in the wall, I'll continue to come here for our favorite dish. Pros: Sesame Chicken Cons: Booth seats are shot more

Surprisingly BAD 12/26/2003

My girlfriend and I eat chinese about once a week. Since moving to Portland a year and a half ago, this is by far the WORST chinese I have tried. The General Tso's came as identically shaped and sized (formed) balls of meat, the flavor of which made me nervous to eat it. The spring rolls were so greasy that the only flavor was, well, grease. The won tons reminded me of extremely stiff cardboard. I would be embarrassed to serve this food to friends. Believe me when I say that ANY of the mall's foodcourt chinese spots are far better than this place. The one up-side was the service, the people that work there were quite friendly and helpful. BUT, being a restaraunt, service alone isn't enough. 3 stars out of 10. Pros: Service Cons: Food more

Almost inedible 7/29/2003

After seeing a 7.5 rating on Citysearch, I decided to try August Moon. My girlfriend and I ordered Potstickers, Mongolian Beef, and General Tso's Chicken. The potstickers were decent, but the other two dishes were barely edible. The beef was slimy and fatty and the chicken was terribly dry. We left nearly all the food behind and had to go find another meal. The prices were high too. Citysearch says $5-$7 but each dish was $10-$12! Pros: Outdoor seating Cons: Food quality, Prices more

Everything You Want from Chinese! 7/4/2002

I have eaten here many times and love the fact that they are friendly, timely, and they almost always are open! The staff sometimes cracks me up with switching people to different tables to accomodate larger parties of people. The food is pretty good. I usually order the pot stickers, fried rice, and the sweet and sour chicken. I have never had any of it undercooked and they are always without grisle or bone residue. The meals are always huge and tasty. The atmosphere is probably more asian feeling on the outside than on the inside. But overall its better than some others around town. more
