Editorial review from Citysearch 7/19/2013

Stay away!! HORRIBLE customer service. I have never written a negative review about a place before, but here's what happened. I brought my truck in for an inspection sticker & oil change and filter. I live just down the street & I was almost home when I noticed my oil gauge was maxed out (NEVER happened before- operated normally since the day I purchased the truck). I called and told them what was going on & the guy swore up and down that a maxed out oil pressure gauge was ""completely normal"". I insisted they look at it again. The mechanic that worked on my truck miraculously left within the 5 minutes it took me to return back to Shell. We asked the owner (manager) to come out and look at it, after giving us a very hard time he reluctantly came outside ten minutes later. In the mean time, we popped the hood and poked around. We discovered my oil pressure sending unit was broken clean off & showed him the damage. He was rude, rude, RUDE. He immediately became defensive and raised his voice and said, ""We DON'T break parts here! It MUST have been brittle, it's like a hundred years old!!"" I calmly told him that although I don't believe he maliciously broke it, it did break in his possession and that I wanted it replaced. He then proceeded to tell me that his mechanic told him that the oil pressure gauge was already maxed out BEFORE he did the oil change, that I brought it there broken. (Clearly, he knew that it broke during the oil change and was trying to cover his tracks. Even the most unintelligent mechanic would have noticed the problem. Not to mention, if the mechanic KNEW it was broken, what car repair shop WOULDN'T try to get more business by telling you that you need a new part?) The 'best' he could do for us was free labor because -and i quote- he ""didn't want to lose money"" by replacing it free of charge. We talked him down to half of his cost for the part & free labor. We dropped it off the next morning per his request. When we went to pick it back up, he told us that we owed him $50. We called the parts store he purchased it from and that part RETAILS for $29.99, let alone any discount he gets. He was trying to overcharge us by almost DOUBLE. At this point we're so fed up, we take the keys and leave him $20. I start the truck up, maxed out oil pressure again! After having someone else test the unit, it turns out that he replaced my unit with a faulty one!! Another $30 later, we swapped the part again ourselves and viola! - oil pressure gauge works perfectly fine!! I am utterly floored at how the owner treated us as customers. He wouldn't admit they made a mistake and damaged something, blamed us for it, then tried charging us almost double the retail value of the part when we agreed on half of his cost. I won't even stop here for gas now. more
