Atlas Cafe 6/14/2006

I love coffee shops. I worked in one for a few years when I was a broke college student and I will forever have fond memories: sneaking beer we had on tap, talking with the regulars, and "sampling" the gelato. Atlas Cafe recalls this particular coffee shop for me, except the food is better, there is a beautiful backyard seating area, and they have a good magazine rack to rifle through. more

Atlas 5/28/2006

Since it's a few blocks from Mission Ave, I always forget about Atlas and how nice it is to hang out there and get work done. Salient features include outdoor seating, magazine rack, best (not so cheap) café food of the cafes. I think they even have the self serve coffee station where you just bring your own cup, fill up, pay on the honor system and take off. Which, when you're already late for work and you see the line of people at such and such café and the barista dude is yucking it up and taking his time… this is almost worth going out of your way to just be able to run in and run out, coffee in hand, time saved... more

Great for lazy afternoons 3/19/2006

On one of those perfect-weather San Francisco days, Atlas Cafe provides a wonderful haven in the middle of the Mission / Potrero. With both indoor and outdoor seating, Atlas is a great place to spend a lazy afternoon. Have a cup of coffee, order up one of their delicious sandwiches, grab the newspaper and enjoy people watching and hanging out in the patio. And if you have a pet or simply love dogs, they are welcome on the patio (not a bad spot to end up at after walking your pet). The sandwiches are eclectic without being too out there and are reasonably priced. And any place that has fresh breads and pesto gets a top score in my book. Lots of vegetarian offers as well as meaty delights like the fabulous Cuban sandwich an filling salads with yummy dressings. Great relaxed atmosphere. more

wireless internet too! 8/23/2005

Atlas is great: good coffee, sunny back patio (where you can enjoy a cigarette with your java), and they just added wireless internet ("WiFi") service! It's free for now... more

  • In Short
A small selection of beer is the only characteristic that qualifies the Atlas Cafe as a bar. Instead, this is a vibrant cafeteria setting with a lengthy food menu, limited coffee...
