Athens Pregnancy Center

I was told I would could come in for an extra "model" ultrasound, and was looking forward to it so much for a month, but didn't hear back for 2 weeks and when I pressed for an answer after being ignored they said they finished their need for models sooner than they expected (which no one warned me of would ever be a possibility) so I can't come in. I wanted so badly to find out my children's gender, it was what was keeping me hopeful after a hard pregnancy, so to be dropped like that really hurt. I don't want anyone else to feel that heartbreak, to be let down like that. Hormonal pregnant women need to be treated more sensitively, and at the very least not given promises and something to look forward to that they can't keep. more

First, the Athens Pregnancy Center is a Christian-based organization. This is not mentioned in the radio commercial and if it is on the website, it definitely isn't obvious. They also claim to be "non-judgmental" and to "help you make the best decision for you." I however felt judged from the beginning. Especially when my advisor realized I was considering abortion. (I was barely considering it only out of panic.) She told me that it would be the worst decision I ever made and every other word out of her mouth was "murder(er)." Definitely not the kind of unbiased knowledge I was looking for. I was also told that even if I made the decision to have the abortion, it would be my fiance's fault because he's the head of the house. Just like it was his fault we were having sex before marriage. Basically, I'm angry because I feel like I was tricked. And I think they do it on purpose. If I had had the slightest inkling the place was full of those "cult Christian" types, I would have avoided it like the plague. more

Athens Pregnancy center is easy to get to and also a wonderful resource for the community. They provide free pregnancy testing and counseling. They will help you decide what the best option for you is and you can even have an ultrasound to see the baby. They have a OBGYN that they regularly use and can refer you. If you stick around, they will help you through every step of your pregnancy and even have parenting class you can go through. They offer clothes and other baby items that you can check out and exchange when your baby outgrows them. The staff are friendly and caring. This is a wonderful organization. more
