Thank you Sr. Master Thomas and all of the instructors at Changing Lives Martial Arts for what you do. You are amazing! more

Self Confidence 1/31/2011

My son has always had a desire to study martial arts but I felt he was to immature and impulsive to be given the knowledge of how to hurt someone. I could not have been more wrong. When he began getting into trouble at home for doing things like melting legos on his light bulb I knew it was time to find a focus for his time and energy. After shopping around and interviewing many different schools we chose the ATA Princess Anne location and two years later we are still thrilled with our decision. The leadership there is top notch. The adult instructors have good and truthful insights about my child. My son has a place where he can expel his energy and learn new things. When he was invited to the Instructor Program I saw his hobby change into something that could very well be a career for him. Rather than teaching him to fight they have taught how to defend him self, how to perform in front of a crowd and how to test well under pressure. He has also learned self discipline and self control. Every time he earns a new belt he gets a huge feeling of pride and self worth because he worked hard and earned it. What better life lesson can a child learn than that? That has also gone a long way in building his self esteem. Another thing that has given a boost to his self confidence and self esteem is being part of the XMA/Demo Team. In particular he is asked for his input as part of that group and each person's suggestions are taken into consideration. He was proud to have his suggestion implemented at part of a demonstration for the other children in the karate school. This type of group collaboration is just another excellent example of how the ATA is teaching my son to become a man and a leader. I am so thankful that we signed Devlin up and we hope he will remain a life long active member of the ATA! more

World Champion Martial Arts in Chesapeake 1/19/2011

From a parents perspective the lessons our daughter has received from ATA in these few short months are simply discipline, self defense and respect. Not necessarily in that order. But they are all wrapped in together. Initially, we the parents, wanted our daughter to learn discipline. She already receives that at home, but we also have a great respect for the discipline that others can instill as well, and in ATA we've found what we were looking for. In addition to discipline, she has gained respect, not the respect for the parents, its more, it's the respect for the instructors, the uniform, the class, and most importantly, others around her. Finally, what price can one put on their child's safety and well being? It has been wonderful to watch as our daughter is instructed in the manner of how to identify a stranger; more importantly what to do should one try to put hands on or harm our child. Through our training, our daughter has grown wiser and stronger. She's receiving the life skills that we want her to have. ATA is reinforcing what she is learning at home in regards to discipline and respect, and amplifying in areas that they specialize in with the martial arts. more

Family Fitness 1/12/2011

On behalf of the Great Bridge Primary School, I would like to thank you for your contribution to our Family, Fun, and Fitness Night. Our students and parents enjoyed the evening and your enthusiasm at your designated area was extremely appreciated. Your participation enabled the event to be successful once again and helped to promote health and fitness throughout the school and community. The Great Bridge Primary physical education department, PTA, school nurse, and wellness committee sponsored this event. We were fortunate to be joined by incredible volunteers such as you. We recognize that without the hard work and dedication of these volunteers that this event would not be possible. We are greatly appreciative of your time and energy in support of our Family Fun and Fitness Night! ~Great Bridge Primary School". more
