We had a 1907 French violin restored at Artley’s. It hadn’t been played in about 60-70 years and it had been stored in an old, cracked, leather-type case. They did outstanding work on it and couldn’t have done better, replacing all things necessary and turning it into a beautiful instrument that plays incredibly. They were very reasonably priced. However, dealing with Fred is difficult. I purchased a bow there and as it was just re-haired, I wanted only a certain kind of rosin on it. Fred threw a fit about opening a new rosin just for this. He gives the impression that he’s got $$ in his eyes, it always coming down to that. But if you can ignore that, Artley’s has good quality at a fair price.
