Artie's Steak & Seafood

Their advertising is unclear about their parking.....my one bedroom apartment is bigger than their parking lot....heavily over priced....and small portions for the asking prices.....with so many other seafood restaurants competing I'm surprised that don't offer better....and did I forget to mention an obnoxious waiter who served my party of 20.... more

This is a first rate restaurant. Old fashioned and unlike the other City Island restaurants in that the locals really do love to eat and drink here and are extremely well served the freshest most original food prepared by Spiro, the owner/chef, who is wildly creative and cares deeply about what he serves and the people who come to his restaurant. Janet, his manager is warm, witty and attentive and keeps this bustling and happy place running smoothly. The wait staff is terrific. The bar is well stocked with interesting, well priced wine and liquor, and the bartenders mix perfect drinks, and again are warm and friendly.\r \r All the food is highly commendable:The Jumbalaya deserves an award;filet of sole is outstanding, huge scallops wrapped in bacon are many people's favorites. Lobster, pasta, everything--even the chicken dishes are standouts. And the desserts are homemade by an Italian City Island woman who knows how to create with sweet and creamy things in ways that will make you swoon. We live in downtown Manhattan, eat out all the time, and are somewhat jaded, but now we have a little bungalow get-a-way on City Island. When we get there we head straight to Artie's. It's become, as it is for so many, our very favorite restaurant. more

This restaurant was phenominal. The food was great, and the staff was very attentative to the patron's needs. Arties was a great choice to make, and being that we found them on Citysearch helped our decision, which was the right one. For great food, awesome service, and an atmosphere so comforting, Arties Steak & Seafood is the right place! Pros: Service, Parkng, and of course the Steaks! more

was waiting for a (booth) for shantys. decided to grab a drink at arties and\r throw my name in for a table. bar was good. seating was in the time old for the wait.\r the wait at the table for drinks was a little long. waiter and food service was great.\r this was my first time there and will not be my last. more

Believe Artie's to be under new management. Piped in music much too loud. The previous friendly, accommodating service was not to be experienced. Menu offered nothing exceptional. Spaghetti was saturated in sauce. Waiter inexperienced. Most shocking was to see a couple come in with a dog. The dog (certainly not a see-eye dog), quietly sat under their table. Dogs in restaurants are in violation of the Health code. Pros: Good parking facility Cons: Inexperienced waiters more

I've had delicious food at Artie's when I went with a friend... however I've been there for parties on a couple of occasions and the seafood platter was terrible both times. Artie's cannot host parties, period. more
