I am sorry to say that Arnold from Arnold's Chimney Sweep who showed up at our home the same day we called has been a huge disappointment. He fixed the off kilter flue, but said he refused to leave unless he installed a $35 clamp which was in addition to the $55. I asked him what safety ordinance or city law required the clamp, and he told me that gas fire log companies now send logs with the clamp due to carbon monoxide. I said they have been there for 10 years without problem, he said it was something new. I told him if he would give me anything about the clamp other than the word ""clamp"" so I could quickly research it on the net, he refused and told me he would remove the clamp and make the flue just like it was when he came there. When I told him I wanted to leave it in and I would pay him for the clamp, he said no and took it out. I told him I had three fireplaces and would pay him to put in the clamps for all three and he refused. I then told him to get out of my house. I never raised my voice and told him repeatedly that I only wanted to understand why he wouldn't leave without putting it in. That did not matter. I would not recommend this person or this company for working in your home.
