Never Again 1/21/2013

On December 22, 2012 I went to the Armory Dog & Cat Hospital as a "walk-in" hoping to have my Yorkie seen by a vet. My Yorkie had hurt her leg the day before (she has a luxating patella in that same leg) and I wanted to see if the condition had worsened or if maybe the vet could wrap her leg for support. I arrived at 12:31 PM, I signed in and waited. There were only five other people before me so I did not think the wait would be long. Boy was I wrong! After sitting there, patiently waiting for two hours, I finally left at 2:31 PM, without my dog having seen the vet! Before I left I contacted Riverdale Veterinary Group, they were closing at 3:00 PM, so I wouldn't be able to make it before they closed. But they did set me up with an appointment for the following day, without a problem.\r I used to admire and even recommend Armory Dog & Cat Hospital, but after this experience I will no longer do so. This place can be best described as completely dysfunctional! There is no organization wha more

Excellent Service 5/14/2012

On Saturday, 5/13/12, we took our 2 month old Puggle for his first vet visit since we purchased him a week ago. Loved it! Every single staff member we interacted with was polite and professional. Dr. Metheny was AWESOME. The vet tech that assisted her was great as well. They answered all of our questions thoroughly and took a lot of time with our puppy. Dr. Matheny even allowed my aspiring vet daughter to ""assist"" her which thrilled my daughter beyond belief. We were in and out in just over an hour (although the ladies up front warned us that that was not the norm on a Saturday). The visit and medication totaled $56! We brought $300 in cash expecting a huge bill, which was our experience elsewhere. Price isn't our main concern, we would have gladly paid ten times that price for the quality care we received. This is our official doctor from this point forward. more

Also, some reviews mentioned a smelly waiting area..it's a vet not a restaurant! If we had to wait 2 hours, we'd do it without question. That's how much I like this place. more

Rude, Insensitive & Unprofessional 9/28/2010

I went there with my mom to pay the balance to have my 14 year old dog's ashes returned to me (he had been put to sleep there 2 days prior). It took them well more than an hour to call me just to process my credit card and sign some papers, even though they knew why we were there. Just knowing that the body of our beloved baby boy was still back there somewhere was absolutely heart wrenching for us. We were both emotionally distraught. After about an hour and a half to two hour wait we're finally called in to process the payment. About 2 weeks later I returned to collect my baby boy's ashes. I went by myself, my mother just couldn't bear to accompany me. Anyway, I let the receptionist know why I'm there. She seemed very compassionate and offered her condolences and asked for my name. I told her then she went back to look for his remains. I'm guessing she couldn't find anything under my name (even though I paid with my credit card, and I was listed as the dog's actual owner) so after a more

THE FU%*KING WOST! 8/5/2010

staff member are the wost!!! i mean the f%*ing wost ! \r it's very slow, ghetto, rude, unclean and very unprofessional this place is very small. but all they care about is the money!!!!$$$\r i went to this place because my little 6 month old Yorkie get ringworm!!!,so this is what happen ,that day was very hot is was about 90 something out side. so i took my little Yorkie out the bag because she was dieing from the heat ,so once i walk in the redhead told me ,will yelling at me to put my dog back in side the bag for it something helping to your dog there not liable.i couldn't believe she yell at me like i was 10. if i didn't understand what she was saying! i told her! The doctors are great but the receptionist gives them a bad reputation. 5/21/2010

The doctors are great but a staff member at the front desk are not at all in the least bit professional. Most of the staff is loud, rude and they have no compassion or respect for the animals and their owners who walk in. I took my pet there to put him down because he was dying. They made me wait over an hour and half; needless to say my pet died in my arms while we waited. One loud mouth, red headed, ghetto receptionist\r told me I had to pay 75 dollars if I wanted to skip the line to see the doctor. And even after my pet died when I rushed him in she again emphasized that if the doctor took a look at him, it would cost $75.00. It took every muscle within my body and soul not to jump over the desk and punch her lights out. While I cried over my pet, the receptionist from hell was laughing and being loud. The Dr. B and Dr. G should really think about reorganizing their staff; maybe putting the redhead\r bimbo at the back cleaning cages, she has no business dealing with people at the f more

I brought 2 of my cats there. Dr Burchman is incredible. He saved my cats life when she was going into labor and it was his first time with a cat in labor and I guess this is the word..> resuscitated a few of the kittens. I still owe money there cus i didn't have all the money at the time. The receptionists are rude and dumb broads sorry to say and sit there gossiping each of the maybe 10 times ive been there. If you have an emergency just go there. just expect to pay! always have money handy when you have pets cus you never know what could happen. they're our children :) another time i went there my kitty opened up her cut from the aspca van that fixes the cats. there was a woman there at the time cus dr. b was in surgery and she was a great help. the docs know what they're doing. more

Armory Dog & Cat Hospital is the Worst in New York 11/9/2009

The @#$%^^ worst vet to see if you want your dog, cat or any pet to live!!! The place is small the associates are rude and none professional. I took my sick dog in and got charged a $75 dollar emergency visit which was not a problem and then given an estimate for 4 days of hospitalization along with some test and blood work and they snuck in a double fee for the emergency room visit. Not only did they over charge me, my dog passed away the same day I went home and they did not even call me the same day. I went the next morning to see the dog and thats when they told me she died the day before. What the f&@#$ is there problem there? My daughter and wife were crying for days. We all were under the impression the our dog was still alive. What a smack in the face! They gave us a run around about refunding the days I pre paid for. The dog did not even last 24 hours. Dont trust them with your pet!! All they care about is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ more

Slow and all about the money!!! 5/4/2009

I went to this place because my cat had trouble breathing and since it was close to were i live i went there. First they were slow and taking their time doing things while my cat was trying to get air, i try to tell them that it was an emergence. This so called lady said that the price was $75.00, so i was like okay just take care of my cat. The lady takes her time, then calls me, i thought it was to see my cat. NO it was for me to pay first before seeing my cat. while my cat is having an asthma attack. I have been to many hospital for my cats asthma before, but never was told wait or to pay before seeing my cat. I have never seen such behavior in any animal hospital. more

Really Good Vet 4/27/2009

Dr. Burchman is really great. He's knowledgeable, explains things clearly, and genuinely cares for the animals. The clinic itself is a little crazy- it's always overcrowded with a tiny waiting area and the staff are constantly too busy. However, Dr. Burchman makes it worthwhile- I only wish he practiced in Brooklyn so he'd be closer to us. Also the prices are the lowest I've seen in NY. Pros: A Vet you can trust and affordable prices Cons: the waiting room/ area/ support staff more

Great groomers and excellent doctors 1/7/2008

Yes, the place is very small but I have two poodles and a cat and I have been taken them here for a long time and the reason being is that they know what they are doing and are very knowledgeable about the animals. If you are a walk-in the wait time is extremely long because appointments are taken first. They are excellent groomers and I wouldn't take my animals to any other groomer because I like the service here. i suggest for those who don't like the wait to find another place and the prices are excellent especially if you have a lot of animals. The doctors are very professional and handle each animal differently according to their circumstance. I would definitely recommend this place and I will keep going here unless I move out of the neighborhood. more

horrible 1/3/2008

the place is extremely small, you never have anywhere to sit and large animals can easily attack any small poooch. very dangerous and nasty enviornment. and the waiting time is rediculous. i left that place when i had my first pooch in 1999 and i returned on 2007to see if its gotten better but to my surprise its only gotten worse. i take my yorkie to CONCOURSE ANIMAL HOSPITAL more

Not The Safest Place For Your Pet 10/28/2007

I used to take my dog to this clinic even though I hated the3-4 hr wait (with or without appointment). The prices were reasonable and the main doctor (Dr. Burchman) was very knowledgeable. I dreaded taking my pets for a visit but I was low on cash for awhile and this place was ok. I changed my mind after what happened one day at the vet's waiting area. I had just finished with my pet inside and when I went to exit into the waiting area, 2 pit bulls jumped to attack my dog. They were held back by their owners but they were really strong almost pulling them down. Everyone jumped and started to run out of the waiting area. I was livid. Had something happened to my pet or myself the good old doc would've been up to his eyebrows in a lawsuit. I couldn't believe that the clinic would condone vicious animals in the waiting area where there were so many other small animals and children. Nothing was done about the almost attack and I never returned there again. I was also becoming di more

To Slow 9/20/2007

I use to take my pet to this clinic. I referred people as well. The clinic is to small and they get pack really quick. The doctors are slow paced. The enviroment is ok. They also have grooming on site.\r \r I would recommend to those who do not have much to do. If you have a scheduled appt. you are not seen at that time. I understand that with the expection of an emergency which is understandable.\r \r This hospital is too small. The doctors are ok. The enviroment was not what I expected. What is not meant for me may definetly be meant for someone else. more
