A front 8/2/2010

I went to Aria Day Spa for a brow wax, and from the moment I walked into the business, felt that something wasn't right. I was the only woman in the spa (other than the women who worked there), and in a matter of 5 minutes, observed three men go in. The "aenestician" didn't ask if the wax was too hot (which it was) or how I wanted my brows shaped. She just put wax on, and ripped it off. I have the sincere impression that this place is really a massage parlor....I more

Warning Awful Experience would not recommend 5/4/2010

I was supposed to be booked for a "Mommy to be Body and Soul" massage; however when I got there I was asked what I was there for and I had to look in the brochure on the front desk for the exact spa I wanted. I was also asked my name 3 times in the matter of being checked in. When I was brought into the room for the massage it was cold as well as the water bed was cold. This led to a tense and really bad experience. My husband purchased this for me for mother’s day and I feel awful he wasted 150.00 plus tip. The foot massage was wonderful but other than that I would never recommend this place to anyone. They thought giving me an Avon sample size of lotion would make things right. I called to complain about the massage the next day and what I got on the other end of the conversation was a defensive woman that told me what she thought went wrong. She really was not listening to me and told me in the summer they turned the water bed down. It is May 03rd sorry but it is spring. Also there was a warm light that was supposed to light the room that was an exposed coil in the ceiling that was so bright i had to have her turn it off. My neck hurts to touch today as I was tense while she was massaging me as she was doing it way to hard. This place should not even be in business they are a rip off want to be spa that is unorganized and over priced. I will chalk this up to an awful experience. more

MANHATTAN FOOT FACIAL 4/22/2010

Not at all worth $60 plus tip. It was nothing more than a rough pedicure with some salt scrub on feet and calves. Next day my big toe cuticle was red and painful.Had to apply antibiotic ointment. Technician kept pumicing and brush kept slipping off and hitting my foot. Left in the quiet room after for 1/2hr till I inquired am I done????Temp in salon was a balmy 77degrees.Was offered cold h20 more

Not Worth the Money 9/18/2007

So it was Labor Day and my friend Amy and I wanted pedicures. Who knew our favorite place would be closed. And our next favorite places. And, well, most of the local places we've never tried but would be willing to... However, I happened to have in my car a menu for "Spa Bellisimo" (which I'd never been to but picked up when I was in the area some weeks before) and so we called to see if their "foot facials" were included polish. Spa Bellisimo was closed but the phone was forwarded to their sister spa, Aria Day Spa, which was note only open, but their foot facials did include polish. The price was steep. For $120 (not including tip) we could reserve a private suite for our pedicures. The service, based on the menu I had, seemed delightful and so we figured we'd splurge and pay the extra money for the added pampering. When we arrived, we were led to a tranquil waiting room, which was nice, but were never told they were running late and were left waiting for 45 minutes. (At which point I had to ask if we were forgotten.) We were supposed to be given choices from various foot masks, but were not. They chose for us and we were told they were trying to get rid of old stock. The pedicure itself was okay and they did a decent job for both of us, but it was not better than a pedicure that could be gotten for $20 and certainly sub par to some of the $40 pedicures I've had. There was no extra attention paid and nothing special at all about this "foot facial," unless you count the hype. Even the foot and calf massage it came with was lacking. At the end we were supposed to be able to chose from a variety of Austrian crystal toe rings, but were not offered those either. For these reasons, I would not recommend Aria to anyone. It is not that they are bad, really, but they are simply not worth what they charge. (And I would gladly pay the extra money for extra service.) more
