Not the same anymore! 8/27/2005

Aquarena Springs in San Marcos used to be a great place to visit. The natural fed springs can still be viewed from the glass bottom boats, but I was a bit disappointed to see that the Submarine Theater featuring the Mermaids and the attractions were gone (my little one doesn’t believe that there was ever a swimming Pig either)! I don’t think we’ll be going back anytime soon. The gift shop is still there as well as the hotel but it’s just not like it used to be. Seems to have gone Corporate. more

Great for learning about our streams and spings 8/20/2005

Aquarena Spings has a glass bottom boat ride. The ride has been around since Aquarina Springs used to be an amusement park, but now is a nature conservetory used by Texas State University to study the spings. The boats offer a view like no other of the naturally spring fed river. The tour guides offer a wealth of information. I wish they would bring back Ralph the Swimming Pig and the underwater Mermaids though. more

Wetlands are great to view from a boat 8/18/2005

The Aquarena Springs Glass Bottom Boats are great to give kids and adults alike the view of a spring fed river from underwater. The cost for a ride is cheap-around $4 a person, and the guides are students who are working with Texas State University. They are great to ask questions to, and the boat ride is relaxing and aboard a really neat boat with a large glass bottom. more

Nothing Like the Great Outdoors for Education and Fun 8/1/2005

Aquarena Springs is an outdoor-lovers dream. The sprawling acreage is full of water, wildlife, and greenery. Glass bottom boat tours are available for a very nominal fee. During the summer, day camps are a great option to keep the children entertained. You can also obtain your scientific diver certification on the property.
