Editorial review from GrubHub 2/16/2014

Sandwich arrived covered in an herb guacamole instead of pesto. They should really list that their "pesto" is made of avocado since that is not the norm. more

Amazing fried calamari with 3 sauces! more

Great Food, Nice Garden 11/5/2011

I love this place > the food is good and the service is good (not French at all ,, lol) I love the Salmon , its a wild Salmon and they prepared just the way you would like it. I love the garden in the summer and its my favorite place to bring visitors from out of town or for any special occasion . more

good food & atmosphere 2/12/2011

good food and people watching, saw Giselle B here not too long ago..I swear she was eating french fries - which I could look like her & eat that ;) more

Terrible experience - botched orders 11/28/2010

We arrived to find the water glasses on the table all had to be removed as they were dirty. Then we ordered, and 10 minutes later were informed that one of the dishes (tuna burger) wasn't available, so a reorder was issued for a veggie panini. 4 out of 5 of us were served, and 10 more minutes passed before the person who was forced to change her order received her meal. Problem was, it was the wrong thing - instead of a veggie panini (as she's a vegetarian) she received a turkey and bacon panini! 15 minutes passed before she received her veggie panini and at that point everyone else was long finished. They still charged us for the panini. Not one of us will ever return to A.O.C. more

Where the angels don't eat 1/13/2010

""When one has tasted it he knows what the angels eat"" - Mark Twain. Pros: Window to watch the world go by Cons: Awful food and bad service more

I think I'm in Love 10/10/2008

I cannot say enough good things about my dining experience at the A.O.C. And I say ""experience"" because it was more than just the amazing food - it was the flawless service, the perfect lighting, the fabulous seating... Pros: ambiance, food, garden more

Great Garden Great Food 8/2/2008

The enclosed garden provides a wonderful intimate setting. The menu is a bit overwhelming but the standard French fare was solid. Definitely try the hangar steak and shoot for cozying up in a corner of the garden. Pros: Garden, Service, Ambience Cons: No reservations for the garden more

Great Breakfast 7/9/2008

The great thing about this place is that it's not busy in the morning. Unlike places like Balthazar, you can enjoy your eggs in the peaceful garden or inside by the window without breaking the bank. My server was pleasant and my coffee cup was never empty. I recommend the french toast. Pros: garden, cute waitresses, quiet more

Why put up with rude staff? 4/2/2008

Great location, and generic but ok bistro food but why bother when the staff are rude, sullen, have an attitude, and obviously don't enjoy what they do. Abrupt, ill-mannered, bordering on insolent. It's not the famous French personality - it's just got good enough. Why work in a restaurant when you aren't a people person? Pros: Location Cons: Staff rudeness more

Great bistro food! 1/21/2008

Eating out in New York is tons of fun and every now and then one wishes for a fun place to eat and have a drink without thinking about the bill. more

Great European Vibe 1/7/2008

My friends got cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery and we went to A.O.C. for coffee/tea. The ambiance was great. The waiter/waitress will not rush you out the door, they allow you time to sit and enjoy your company and the conversation. Pros: Great Ambiance and Service more

Great food 9/2/2007

Small intimate french place with a calming atmosphere, excellent service and food. A good place for couples or small groups of friends (no more than three). It is a bit on the small side but not cramped. Pros: food and service more

Great food, friendly bar staff 7/6/2007

If you can eat beef, try the hanger steak. The burgers are also very good. I agree that bottles are more worthwhile, though they usually serve Hoegaarden and other beers on tap. There are many restaurants to choose from in this area, though AOC really has great service and food. more

Ok Ambiance, but EXCELLENT FOOD 7/3/2007

I was at AOC earlier tonight when outing with two of my friends. The decoration is lovely but the music was fairly American, country songs that does not remind me a bit of Paris or Europe. The food was most excellent, I ordered the endive salad and the vegetable risotto, the salad was so big that I didn't get a chance to finish the risotto, which was nonetheless possibly the best I've ever had. Oh, and they also have a VERY cute bartender, I am only 17 so I didn't go to the bar, but one more reason for going. Pros: Food, eye candy, location Cons: Mediocre service more

never been but saw it from street and it looks nice. 5/14/2007

the place looked way cool when i walked by it in the west village. I got a menu to go and here we are leaving my mark so i can go back and visit the place for food. more

Consistently good food, friendly service 5/7/2007

I've been to AOC several times, and everytime the food has been great and the service attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is relaxed and cozy and the garden in back is lovely. All in all, dining at AOC has been a great experience, one that I would highly recommend. Pros: great food, friendly service, garden more
