Worst record store. 9/28/2008

Over priced. Over priced. Over priced! What else can I say...This is what pops up when people don't finish high school. They expect to make money any way they can. In this case, they took what they learned in third grade History class and slapped IKEA on it; Buy low, sell high. To make matters worse they're snobby and rude...This is where customers who have their credit cards paid off by mommy and daddy shop. The same loser/junkie/idiotic sheople that view fashion as art. They go into Anthem Records. They buy an over priced, ""out of print"", ""hard to find"" album that they heard some other loser/junkie/sheople talking about way too loud because of their hangover at Stumptown coffee one morning. They take it home. Throw it on. Drink until they up chuck. Cry by themselves. Try to commit suicide, but are thwarted by their inability to miss the white belt sale at Nordstom's the next day. They are the same mall-turn-a-teens that shopped at Hot Topic ""a long time ago"" in 2005. My point is...Don't patronize Anthem Records unless you like being patronized. Pros: It's across the street from a bar, so you can spend the rest of your remaining $2.25. Cons: OVER PRICED! RUDE! more

Best record store in portland!! 8/10/2008

Best selection of dubstep, super nice and friendly staff!!\r Portland would not be as great if this spot was not around.\r If your a dbag then people might be rude..sure.. i mean this is a record shop right?\r Love this shop!! Pros: ripe dubstep selection Cons: not open 24/7 more

overpriced and rude 8/3/2007

I thought I'd try a local record store to see if it might be better than Music Millenium and Everyday Music. It's not. Don't be lured in by the interior design and popular Belmont location. The music is overpriced, selection limited and cashiers rude. Stick to the tried and true of Portland. Pros: nada Cons: don't waste your money here more

Brilliant selection, wonderfully fresh store. 1/14/2007

If you have been stuck at home buying your mujsic on iTunes, you have to go to Anthem Records for a fresh treat. They have the most brilliant selection of all sorts of genres that you might have never heard of. They have tons of vinyl too. \r You can sell your CDs and vinyl as well. \r You can also listen to any of the CDs in the store and there are turntable listening stations. \r The store is the perfect size. It's not gigantic and sterile, and it is not too small. It is just right.\r It is also a great date spot. You can shop for records, and then grab a drink at one of the bars in the Belmont area or drink coffee at Stumptown, and then go home and listen to records together. Pros: selection and atmosphere more
