TERRIBLE! DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON... 2/16/2009

I am a New Yorker and have been to countless nail salons on the city. I went to this salon with a family member who was in town and it was terrible! What a rip off. Every 2 minutes they were telling us that this or that was $2 or $4 more. The manicure did not include soaking your hands at all - that costs extra! I left with dirt under my finger nails. They charge extra for putting clear polish on top of the color polish. They charge extra for every little thing - all the parts that are part of a regular manicure! We were appauled...Both of us left with bleeding fingers and sore feet. DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON (if you can even call it that!)... Cons: Everything... more

AVOID!!! DO NOT GO THIS SALON - TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! 9/25/2008

I have been getting my nails done (acryllic/gel) for over a decade. In that time, I have been to numerous nail salons (too many to even count actually) and I have never seen poorer quality of work than I did at this salon. I asked for a simple fill which is a routine service. They first used this strange technique by dipping by my nails into a powder bottle as oppossed to using a brush and overlaying the acryllic on the top of the nail. I have never seen this before and i think for one very good reason. This technique proved not to work at all!! There is still a gap b/t my cuticle and the acryllic defeating the whole purpose of asking for a fill. I advised the technician of this and she simply sprinkled some powder in the area which did nothing to solve the problem. The nails are too thick, the polish is streaky and my nails look no better off then when I went into the salon. The only difference now is that I have less money in my bank account. It's a wonder that these technicicans were even able to recieve a license from the State of New York. Please be advised and avoid this nail salon at all cost!!! Luckily, there are plenty other nail salons NYC has to offer so don't make the same mistake that I did!! Cons: Poor quality service, unsanitary, use improper methods for nails more

What a ripoff... 7/19/2007

I wish I had read the previous review before going to Hans Nails. The same thing happened to me. They claimed that the only way to get the white scales on my nails to disappear was to do the hot oil. However, halfway through, I noticed that the white scales were gone with a simple buffing. When I tried to complain, they yelled that I had already agreed to the treatment and paid. Then, they rushed me out of there, and as I was gathering my things, had the nerve to ask, ""tip, tip!"" I was an idiot and gave one, even though I had originally planned not to because I was unhappy with the service. So, to summarize, they were pushy, rude, it was a poor job and not worth the expensive price. Cons: pushy, rude, services not worth it, and not very clean more

Worst Nail Experience Ever in Manhattan! 5/13/2007

I was in on May 7th and had a horrible experience. The salon was filthy with stained carpet and nail clippings everywhere, they did not use clean equipment to give me a manicure or pedicure, and they not only harrassed me continously to upgrade to a ""spa"" mani and pedi, they did it to three other customers - telling us all what ""dry skin"" we had. It was a miserable experience, and I should have got up and left, but instead, I suffered through it. I was the fool. Save your money, possible hygiene risks, and stress level and go somewhere nice, clean and respectful. I have no idea how they stay in business. Cons: Horrible, pushy service; filthy atmosphere more
