Uncaring, unprofessional vetinarian. Go to Banning or Indio vet. emergency hospital if you can 3/3/2008

Dr. Gureep Deol is one of the most uncaring vets. I've ever met. I brought my cat in who has kidney and liver disease w/ lethargy and peeing outside her litter box. The physical exam showed that all signs were normal with exception of lethargy, painful abdomen, and dental tartar. She was walking, eating (though somewhat less), drinking, peeing and defecating. Dr. Deol asked if she was up-chucking and I said I did not know as I have 2 other cats and they all do this now and then (hairballs, etc.) The chemistry panel which I sat in the exam room and waited for a very long time for indicated elevated creatine and bun levels consistent with chronic renal failure and low red bld cell count. Dr. Deol recommended that I put her down. I cried then got my composure back and said she's still eating, drinking, etc. and had then had them give her hydration therapy by the technician Richard (who was very good and empathetic) and assistant and Dr. Deol left. The tech. sent me home with hydration bag which I know how to administer and told me to give it to her twice a day. Dr. Deol never returned. I asked Richard if she was in pain since I did not want to keep her alive if this was the case. He said no. The receptionist told me she had given hydration therapy to a cat with chronic renal failure and the cat survived many years. I took her home and she ate, peed,, and drank. I was concerned over the low red bld. cell count and called the clinic back around 5:30 and spoke to Dr. Deol and asked if she needed a transfusion. He said no, that she needed medication to stimulate red cell production which they did not carry and I should bring her to my vet. I asked why no recommendations had been written on her discharge papers and he said because she was in pain and should be let down. She told him this was not the case as verified by the technician. He said that since I was did not know if she was up-chucking I was not watching her carefully enough, then hung up on me. Pros: Technicians, receptionist, aides. Cons: Most uncaring vetinarian I have met. Unprofessional, lacking ethics. more
