food was horrible, even when we order medium hot, it was unbearable to eat because of the hot sauces.

Best Indian restaurant in Columbus 4/2/2012

We share midwest, east coast, and Indian backgrounds. We have been dining at Amul India frequently for many years and find it consistantly good. They are very interested in pleasing their customers and happy to do so. The food is authentic, the atmosphere is comfortable, and the prices competitive. This is evident by the fact that on any given night, the customer base is made up of many nationalities. more

Awesome Food, Truely Authentic Indian Food 12/14/2011

Before moving to OH I came here on business visits for weeks at a time, multiple times and pretty much tries all the Indian restaurants in the Columbus area. Some just sell overpriced crappy/undercooked/over spiced food including resaurants called Tadka and Dakshin. But Amul india is great, the food is very delicious and plenty. If you think food is too spicy just ask for less spices next time. I have tried the Taj restaurant as well but there food was something that a single Indian guy would cook in his apartment. The food at Amul India tastes like a good effort has been put into cooking. You can just beat their buffet at lunch time but if you go in evening/night you can try they veg Thalis and it comes with so much different kinds of food. And you must try the Kulfi and Kheer, even my lactose intolrent friends can't resist the taste :) more

Great food from Northern India 9/18/2011

Having visited India, we have found this to be the best Indian restaurant in the area. The food is great -- they'll make it hot or mild. The service service is prompt and efficient. The variety of food is significant, and they have Indian beer (Flying Horse and Taj Mahal) They also offer Kingfisher which is an Indian receipe brewed in the UK. more

Amul India is great 7/6/2011

Amul India i believe is one of the most greatest Indian restaurant in Dublin, Columbus area- I've ever been to. The food is great and so is the service. I really don't get why some people just don't like the food well they should go try again. My favorite dish is the chicken tikka. just some great food. Everyone should go try, they will fall in love with he food and the restaurant... more

Good Food -- Overly attentive staff 5/26/2011

Indian food is my favorite, I try all the Indian restaurants in my area. It used to be that Amul was one of a very few in my part of town, but now there are many. Their food is very good, although the variety on the buffet does not vary as much as I would like. Fridays are the best day to go because they always offer a little extra from which to choose. While the staff is friendly, in an effort to be efficient and attentive they make me uncomfortable. I feel like they are hovering and that I am always being watched. I don't like the feeling that I can't eat in privacy. However, I've been eating there for years and will continue to do so, even though now they have to share my eating out budget with several other good Indian restaurant that are nearby. more

Great Buffet! 2/10/2010

My hubby and I love Indian food, and tried out Amul by a friend's suggestion. We arrived at lunch, and the place was buzzing. I am vegetarian, and natuarlly had no trouble finding wonderful options at the buffet. The staff are friendly, and brought our drinks to the table at we were filling our plates. Great naan, great food, friendly service. Amul is definately on our ""regulars"" list! Pros: Great naan, fast service, and friendly staff more

great food, authentic taste, good service 12/6/2008

The restaurant is usually close to empty, but the service gets you in and out quick. The food is very authentic and just like the amazing homemade Indian I have eaten. It is full of flavor, the sauces are rich and the only downside is you need to ask for more rice because they only bring out one dish at a time per table, not per dinner ordered. My husband and I always order 2 dinners and share them, but we are only given one bowl of rice and have to ask for more a couple times. The naan is expensive for what it is, but is comparable and VERY good - it brings us back. Leftovers heat up great. Highly recommend due to the food, speed of service, and rarely running out of water. The service is still above average even if we needed to ask for more rice. Pros: Food is full of flavor, not missing anything, speed of service, Cons: don't give enough rice per table more

NEVER GO to AMUL INDIA 8/31/2008

I went there on 29th august 2008, the food was horrible. Looks like the gave us 3 days old food and also very salty. We could not eat at all. The service was horrible. If you need water, you need to call server, they never come to u. more

Excellent buffet, even better menu items! 2/17/2008

Located in the same strip mall as Thai Orchid (also excellent!), this is the place for rich Indian food in Columbus. The medium-sized lunch buffet is only $8/person, and the dinner prices are also reasonable. The service is friendly, and mostly timely. It's hard to go wrong with anything on the menu. The heat in the spicy foods are a notch above American ""hot"". They have deals in those coupons books that float around too, so be sure to check this place out! Pros: Parking, larger than average menu Cons: Dining area kept a bit too dark more

Yummy Indian!!!!!!! 7/28/2007

This is my favorite Indian in Columbus. Their chicken makhani is delicious (if you like chicken tikka masala and haven't tried this...I highly recommend it.) Also very nice people. They have a lunch buffet every day - check it out. They are on Sawmill in the plaza past Hard Rd. on the right (if you are heading north.) Pros: Food, service, parking Cons: None so far. more

Best so far! 3/23/2006

This is the best Indian food I've had in Columbus so far. I've only had the lunch buffets, but the food has been excellent. There are huge chunks of meat in their dishes; the food was warm and flavorful (although it could stand to be a little spicier). They have a lot more selections on their buffet than most. The only complaints I had was about the ambience (rather dark and dreary) and the service (which was slow to refill my drink). Pros: selection, taste Cons: atmosphere, slow wait staff more

i crave this 2/12/2006

this place is wonderful for vegetarians. there are so many choices. even people who aren't vegetarian agree, though, that this place is the best in columbus. you walk out of amul feeling satisified and full (but not gross.) my only complaint, and it's a small one, is that the buffet is not spicy enough for me. because of that, i usually go for dinner. more

best Indian food in the area 9/22/2005

Absolutely wonderful. My daughter and I have been going there often since they opened, and never had a disappointing moment. They will discuss the food and help you find something you like if youre feeling unsure or intimidated. I recommend the vegetarian Thal for beginnners, too. They also have off-menu items, the goat curry is fabulous! and dont miss the kheer for dessert! They even have a small private room for groups. Pros: delicious, inexpensive, service Cons: none! more

Superb! 9/12/2005

Amul India is nowhere near as good as the curry houses back home in Britain, but it's certainly the best I've had in the US. We've been several times, and the service has always been first-class! (Take a sip of water, and see how long it takes for your glass to be topped up!) There is plenty of parking, and there is never a wait to be seated. We always take the buffet option, and have always found the food to be hot, fresh and very flavorsome. Very good value for money too (especially if you use a coupon - there's usually one in the 'Weekender' part of Thursday's Dispatch). Try the lassi - refreshing and delicious!! Pros: Superb food., Excellent service., Location/parking. more

The best yet I have had in Columbus 4/13/2005

Wonderful experience, great decor, friendly quick service and EXCELLENT top quality very authentic northern Indain cuisine!!!! I just ate their food and feel such a huge amt of satisfaction. The waiter also gave me a coupon for the next time. Pros: Excellent food, prompt service, good parking Cons: 20min from my home!, rice - almost perfect more

A great place to eat 3/29/2005

I liked the food here, the service can be either extremely great or extreamly lousy, I guess it depends on who waits on you. But putting that aside, the food was the best Indian food I've ever had and I've never had a better fruit and nut naan in my entire life. more

review 5/20/2004

The food is very flavorful, however I taste that they are adding way too much ghee (clarified butter) which spoils the taste. The price is too high as well. I would not recommend the buffet at all because the food tastes as though it is reheated leftovers. If you go try the aloo chole or aloo gobi. The nan is very good as are the desserts. Cons: , bad buffet more

I could get used to this! 4/19/2004

Amul India is the first Indian food I have tried, and I must say I was a little nervous. However, Amul India has made a believer out of me! We stopped in after a martial arts class one night and despite the menu being daunting, we enjoyed our dishes. The food is spicy and if you don't know what you are ordering, the server is happy to explain what it is. The prices are fair too. All in all I will definitely be returning. more
