For anyone like myself, who doesn't have the luxury of full dental insurance, Ameriplan can be a lifesaver! I went to the dentist before Ameriplan and was shocked to hear their prices! Luckily, I had a friend many years ago who sold Ameriplan, so I knew a bit about it and went online to research it further.
As soon as I found their site and compared the discounted prices with the quote I received from my dentist, I signed up immediately!
What this is, is a savings plan. It's not insurance, so you won't have your complete bill paid. They contract with dentists in your area to give you a pretty sizeable discount on any work they do. The dentists benefit as well, because members of Ameriplan come to them, so their patient base grows. Although it doesn't pay everything... their contracted prices in my area are over fifty percent lower than the standard prices. The great thing is, the membership is very inexpensive as well! For an individual, the plan costs around ten dollars per month, or you can cover everyone in your household, related or not, for around thirty. Another thing I really like about Ameriplan is that they don't even require you to have a contract for long periods of time. You can sign up, use all the savings you want in that first month, and cancel, and cancel, without penalities of any kind! Just those practices alone make me feel really comfortable with the company, and want to keep it in effect!
One more quick thing... these savings even cover orthodontic work and prescriptions... so as you can see, the eleven dollars per month really pays for itself several times over! As a mom of four, that is something I really appreciate!
