I moved to Portland from the midwest for school. They knew very well that my fiance and I knew nothing about this town and sent their best con artist to roll us over. Mary, a seemingly hapless woman who talks lovingly about her dog and husband scammed us into paying two hundred more than any one else in the building. She also ordered a company to empty out a storage locker belonging to a neighbor for reasons that were only whimpered to a shrieking mad woman; that lady was ready to tear heads off. If I'm late in rent pay by more than two days (literally) I'll get a big red eviction flier glued (glued, yes) to my door. This building is old and there havent been any updates for decades. There's only one outlet in each room and if more than three electrical devices are in use I have to go down to the basement to flip a switch. When we moved in the side porch was nothing but a tarp. I built a porch over that tarp. That wasn't what they wanted so a year later they hired some of the most violent mongoloidal run off schlubs I've ever met to rip it out. I had to threaten violence to the head retard not to throw all my wood and decorations away. If you rent from these people, you deserve what you get. That being said, if you rent from these people I will camp out on your front lawn and hurl insults and garbage at you day and night. You won't ever sleep again. more

I'ved lived in about 8 different cities, and I can honestly say this is the worst apartment complex I've lived in. I received two eviction threats when rent was 1 day late. I mistakenly received two rental violations that were for my neighbor. The owners wants this place to be a slum. Also, the rental violations I mistakenly received were for ridiculous stuff like shoes and a chair on the back porch. They do monthly visual inspections of your back porch apparently and had a bad layout schematic. more

American Property Management is criminal. I lived in an apartment for only a few months before leaving due to health issues caused by my poor living conditions. I was told upon moving in that the carpets had been cleaned, and they most definitely hadn't. I steamed the carpets myself, and it took four times before the water wasn't completely black. Something in the apartment was making me sick, and I complained to management about the carpets and was told that they wouldn't investigate it nor would they refund my deposit if I chose to move out because of it. My windows were leaking, and my refrigerator was dripping water from rusty metal onto my food. It took a month before either were looked at, and neither of them were ever completely resolved. The head manager of APM told me to write a letter stating my case and that he would consider refunding my money. I was optimistic at that point, until I was completely ignored. It's been three months since I moved out, and they have not returned my phone calls, responded to my letters, or acknowledged my situation when I've gone into the office in person. APM is HORRIBLY unprofessional and will ignore any issue they don't want to deal with. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM. They will steal your money and waste your time. more

So my apartment flooded over the weekend. Big surprise, the firefighters that had to rip the toilet out said it was due to shotty workmanship and a rusty pipe. I am talking about 5 inches of standing water people! 3 days later....no maintenance man??? WTF! My carpets are starting to smell because the pads underneath are wet and soggy. Besides the above, the place was dirty when we moved in, there is mold everywhere, our heaters don't work, there were dead cockroaches when we moved in, the windows are so old and janky that in the winter we had ice on the inside! DO NOT RENT FROM THESE SLUMLORDS Pros: Cheap, for a reason Cons: Mold, flood, dirty, ants, cockroaches, heaters broken more
