Amax Academy School

This is a wonderful place! My kids always tell me about the friends they've made at Amax and how much they have fun everyday. Everyone there is very nice and helpful. The teachers are very positive and give up their own time to help their students. Thank you Amax for providing such a safe yet fun environment for my kids! They love it! more

This place is great. I have both kids here for a short period of time and I see positive report from their regular school. Everyone at this school is very nice. The principle, Ms. Angie is very helpful explaining to me step by step of how I can encourage my kids to do good in school. The administrator, Ms. Jessica is very sweet and kind to all the students there. My kids love her and talks about her every night. The teachers there are very professional. I can see that they teach every student with passion. Many kids there are very polite and respectful. Having my kids there makes feel very relieved because I don't have to deal with their school assignments anymore. My kids love this place, I wish I know this school earlier. more

Similar to the user toptree, i have a very different opinion than princepesa. It seems to me that princepesa is simply slandering the academy. I have been to this school and my children have for some time too. The situation described below has never happened to my knowledge and i highly doubt it ever has. It seems very improbable. All of the times i have asked my kids how they like the school i always get a positive remark. The teachers know what to teach and how to teach. They also have the credentials to teach. If Ms. Jessica is as bad as the person below said then I must be blind. She is so friendly but can keep the children obedient. Ms. Angie knows how to run her business and knows when to be nice and when to be stern. I recommend this place to everyone. Simply call or go see for yourself if it is the right decision. I made my decision long ago and I dont regret it. more

My son has been attending this academy for 4 years and i have yet to find any complaints. He finds the school extremely fun and helpful. I recommend this school to any adults looking to find a place that is fun yet academic. Contrary to the review below, Ms. Jessica is very friendly and kind towards the kids. She always finds the best ways to help the students. I love this school and it has been a wonderful place for me and my child. more

I have the exact opposite opinion to the other post. I have both my kids there for over 5 years. The teachers they hire all either have experience teaching, have taught at this school for many years, have teaching credentials or are currently teaching in either elementary or high school. This is in contrast to many other places I have tried which hire cheap teens or twenty year olds that have absolutely no teaching experience. They charge a cheap fee but you get what you pay for. At Amax, they focus on the education of my kids. I get weekly progress reports. The teachers and administrators often stop me when I come in to talk about the progress of my kids and go over the progress reports with me. I did not even have to ask! When I select a place for my children, I do not care about any high tech equipment. All I care about is how much they care about my child's education. Amax has shown me that they really care and they promote confidence building. My kids (one in high school and one in elementary) are as confident as ever! So I know I have made the right choice. I went in there to see if I can put my 6 year old there. It doesn't look like a bad school at the beginning. It surprised me when I walked in the school, so many students, but no teacher. Then I kept walking to the 1st door I ran into, this lady Jessica was sitting by the computer playing facebook game. She seem to be nice ( of course). Then there was this little girl crying and asked: "" Ms. Jessica, i hurt my finger"" Then Ms. Jessica said: "" Sorry I'm busy right now, do you know where band-aid is? "" the little girl nodded."" Why don't you go get one yourself."" I did ask Jessica that she can go ahead and help the girl, but she says it's okay. Then there comes this guy walked in the door blame the little girl in Cantonese "" How did you hurt yourself, how come you're not careful"" in a harsh sound I was shocked by how rude and how inappropriate it is. Then Jessica told me that he is the driver to pick up the children. I was thinking to myself, if I send my daughter here, I need to make sure he is not the driver. It shows couple things: 1, When I walked in the school nobody was watching the children playing in the front, I had to look for someone then saw MS JESSICA sitting in the office playing some facebook game. 2. There are not enough teachers to make sure the children are being kept an eye one, or MS JESSICA is too busy playing her game. 3. If my little girl got hurt, I would like to have at least an adult to help her. MS. JESSICA insisted that it is ok for that little girl to go get the band-aid herself even after I told her it's ok, I can wait. Can I really trust them with my little one? 4. The school obviously leaves the first aid kit at a easy reachable place for a maybe 6 or 7 year old. I don't think it's be properly and carefully placed. Are children supposed to use the first aid kit by themselves without any adult supervision? 5. I visited some classrooms, and noticed that there are no windows in most of the classrooms. and the hall way is really narrow, it makes me nervous if anything happens, can the students in the last room get out on time? 6. I might be picky, they claim that they have computer class that you have to pay to have it every friday. But their computers are all so old, I wonder if my kid can learn from an out-dated computer. Is that normal? 7. Last is my biggest concern, the quality of the employee there. The driver that walked into the office while we are having a conversation. He had to interrupt our meeting and saying mean things to a little girl that got hurt. He shouldn't be driving or working school, because he is not patient doesn't have a kind heart. I don't want my daughter to be around this kind of person. 8. Jessica seems to be ok with the children, but I doubt if she has any sort of proper training of being a care taker for children. But she seemed to be the ONLY person at the time that SHOULD take care of the children. The answer is I didn't send my daughter there for the above reasons. I want to share this with whoever reads this because I'm so surprised how many students they have there. I wonder if the parents read what I wrote, will they have a second thought about sending to this school. Hope this helps. Good luck! I wasn't gonna put any star, but I had to give at least one. more

This afterschool program is a great place for kids that are motivated to learn. Some parents feel that their children should excel with immediately results, however Amax knows how to find the child's strong points and nurture it. It is also helpful to single parents who do not have the time to teach or do homework with their kids afterschool. The teachers are caring, and helpful.
