Service and price 10/21/2010

I use another oil company in the area and it was great that they had a real good price.Boy was that my undoing.I called the other company for oil and they said they would be there the next day.The Company never showed up and after 3 calls they still never showed up.I ran out of oil and being elderly I didn't know what to do.My friend told me to call Al's Oil and Al's sent a truck out to me within a half hour.I couldnt have been treated any better.I am now an Als customer for life. more

Horrible service 10/20/2010

Burner doesn't work. Called for repair, told to be at home 8:30 to 12:30. Guy shows up at 8:15 and leaves without calling or waiting. Called back and lady actually gets attitude, saying there's no way someone came by before 8:30 (despite the time written on the receipt by the repairman and stuck on the doorknob AND the fact I was there by 8:25). Rescheduled AGAIN for 8:30 to 12:30pm, happened AGAIN (and again no call). This time, lady has gall to LIE "we've always come between 8am and 12pm" (after she had been rude to us about no one ever arriving before 8:30 and telling us TWICE that it was 830-1230). Then she says repairman will be out shortly. Waited, no one showed up. Oil might be cheap, but believe me, wait til you need some service. Hope you dont freeze to death. Good help is hard to get, but lying and rudeness is not acceptable. more

Terrible Service in an emergency 10/18/2010

I was a long time customer. When I lost heat (I was on automatic delivery) on one of the coldest nights in the winter, it took them over 6 hours to fix the situation (I pay extra for the 24 hour service). I had thought being a local company, there would be heat in my house sooner than later. The woman who was "on call" told me that they were busy (I had to call them twice - she said she never got the first call), there was a mistake on their part for the automatic delivery and my oil tank had run dry. The driver who refueled the tank had the nerve to tell me that he was not going to charge me for the delivery - I told him that I would not be paying the delivery charge because it was their fault. Even after I cancelled my acct with them, they still sent me a bill. I had told a friend who was in the oil business that I had Al's Oil and he said "Sorry to hear that" - I had wished I had known that before. more

So much for being a long time customer 8/30/2010

26 year customer, lost my job, took 7 months to pay off last delivery but it was paid. Now I'm a C.O.D. customer. They actually terminated my account. Loyalty? I'll C.O.D. somewhere else. more

Many years of Service 3/22/2010

I've been buying from Al's for 8 years since I moved to Shrewsbury. The service has been great. I get automatic delivery and if anything breaks they send a burner guy out to fix my heat. more

Been Real Cheap So far 10/22/2009

Starting buying from them in the summer. I looked at www.newenglandoil.com and they were cheap & had a service department when I called. I'd been burned by buying from a "discount" company and paying through the nose for a cleaning. Al's only charged me $120 for a cleaning. I don't trust single truck guys anymore. We'll see how Al's treats me this Winter, and maybe I'll give them another review later. more

No Lock For Me 10/5/2009

Als did something different this year. They're only locking prices for November - February. I was nervous this year, but I couldn't see paying $2.59 for a delivery now when I can get it for $2.19. I was also angry about locking in for $4 last year. I spoke with Steve at Al's and he took the time to explain it all to me. Nothing I can do about last year, but it turns out I will probably only get 1 oil delivery that I need to lock in, I'll do that. It was nice that he took the time to talk to me. I use Al's, but I called around because I was looking at other lock in rates. Nobody else acted like they cared if what they were selling was right for me. Heck, it was tough even getting a person to talk to me for more than two minutes at some places. Steve took the time and explained that he doesn't think oil is going to go up a lot more, but I could protect my one winter delivery just in case. This made sense to me. more

Best Value if not Price 8/3/2009

They are usually right in line with the cheepie oil companies, but Al's can always get to me when I call them up. I can call in the morning and they can get to me in Shrewsbury that night. I like that they have their own burner guys. I didn't lock in last year, I listened to Steve in the office, so I am happy. We'll see what happens this year. more

Got My Refund 7/22/2009

Good: Service & Timeliness. Bad: High Price for Last Year's Lock. Other: I bought a lockin for last year too. I bought 575 gallons, and I used 520. I got $220 back. I called and they said that if somebody broke their contract and bought oil from somebody else they wouldn't get a refund. The last reviewer must have broken their contract, so it serves them right. I'm not going to lock this year and I am going to call for oil so I'll save money. I like the fact that Als can deliver to me the same day in Shrewsbury.. more

Al's Oil 5/12/2009

Locked in with Al's last September 2008 at a high price. Al's wouldn't do anything for us as a customer to lower the price afterward so we paid $2.00 more a gallon that other folks. Other Local Oil Companies did offer their customers some type of a discount but not Al's. So we Paid them up front for amount of gallons that Fuel Manager Recommended. Didn't need all the gallons that fuel manager recommended. Called at end of Contract to get a Refund on what we didn't use and now they want to penalize us and charge us a penalty of $2 per gallon for every gallon we did not use. We always thought that Al's had the customers best interest at heart but have found out otherwise. Very disappointed. We have asked for our refund of over $1000 dollars and they only want to refund 1/2 and keep the rest. We don't have money to throw out the window like this but they don't seem to care. Think twice before signing on with Al's as if you buy more fuEL than yuo need and you want a Refund you might not get all your money back and who can afford that in today's world. They always refunded money at the end of the contract without any issue but this year they decided at the very end of the contract NOT to do this and we're just finding this out now. So think twice before going with Al's. more

Price way to high 12/12/2008
