Editorial review from Citysearch 9/18/2013

I recently read the review from ellen d. about all creatures great and small and I was very sad to hear that she was unhappy and considering not returning to utilize our services. Unfortunately when you read a review you receive only the reviewers opinion and do not get to evaluate the perspective of all individuals involved, unless they write a rebuttal .\r I was disappointed that after many years of providing excellent health care to this individuals lovely dog - she was unhappy with the mentioned event. I would have hoped that she would have called and discussed her unhappiness with me but that did not occur. \r When Becky was treated she was treated not by myself but by my associate- who is not a new graduate - an excellent doctor who has practiced elsewhere for multiple years before joining our practice. All of the doctors work together on all cases to provide the best possible care for each patient we see and elllen d. did state that her pet did well .\r When people get vaccines they can have reactions to he vaccines ie soreness stiffness transient fever or swelling at the site of vaccination- so can animals- the lump she experienced could certainly have been a vaccine reaction. The pathologists can offen tell if a mass is cancer or inflammatory but if inflamation is seen they may not be able to tell cause - so that is often part of the explanation given when reports come in. The report is given to the owner verbally and although the lump could have been vaccination related the lab could not say it was not inflammation due to other causes. If you are vaccinated for tetanus and get a lump the doctor who gave the injection is not cause of the lump - A reaction is an over reactive response of the patients immune system . I have no reason to not admit that her pet had a vaccine reaction or not as a reaction is not a reflection of my care. If an owner is concerned that a lump may be cancer or simple inflammation and they wish to be sure- the cost of the laboratory evaluation, by an outside source, needs to be borne by the client and I am sorry if that cost was not to the owners liking- We try to be fair in all our dealings and if the cost was too much the owner had the right and responsibility to decline the tests.\r This client was and is an excellent person and pet owner and her dog a wonderful soul who I have enjoyed treating over the years - I am sad she and we had miscommunication that made her unhappy I love what I do and practice with integrity , honesty and to the best excellence I can.\r We would welcome her return and I would be open to speaking to her at any time.\r Dr Christina Miccio more
