Editorial review from Citysearch 8/26/2013

I became curious and suspicious because of the first ""reviewer"" seems to be owner doing damage control by attempting to attack the witness because they cannot dispute the facts.\r \r They claim that the two negative reviews which were written by two people were opened by one person for the purpose of targeting them for a bad review. If so, this has got to be the most patient 'hot head"" of all time because the accounts were opened 2 years apart from each other and the reviews one year apart from each other.\r \r More importantly, this fake ""reviewer"" completely avoided addressing the substance of these reviews and for good reason. All of the claims are very accurate as I was able to confirm directly with All County Music in person.\r \r I would strongly advise anyone shopping for lessons to read those reviews carefully and write down your questions ahead of time and then see for yourself if any of their statements were incorrect in any way.\r \r Personally, knowing how it took me 5 minutes to write this, that still seems like a long time so i am thankful those reviewers took the time to write such well thought out reviews from the standpoint of the customer. \r \r This place really is a mill and they charge way to much, lie too much and cut too many corners on quality. Customers and teachers alike are much better off avoiding such an intrusive middle-man. This is especially true now that similar stores with similar reputations for misleading customers have recently closed down owing both customers and teachers a lot of money. more

The 2 negative reviews on this and other pages are written by a local guitar teacher that lives in Davie, FL. Just click on any of his user names (scamdetector, GtrEditor, nomoguatemalans, etc.) and you'll see that he only writes negative reviews (not a single positive review) of all local music stores. He's NOT a customer of this facility and he does NOT know any of the teachers that teach there. He clearly is not in a position to review this or any other music store. In the future, he will create other usernames and will continue to write more negative reviews to keep ratings low. This should be considered HARASSMENT and citysearch needs to investigate this individual. more

Day care mentality. Not for people who really want to learn 11/2/2011

Very typical low quality, inexperienced intern level instructors for too high of a price aimed at typical ""sucker moms"" who just want to drop off their kids at music lesson ""day-care"" for an hour while they have the nails done. They know how to exploit the ignorance of their clientele and this makes them a lot more money than credibility with people who know anything about music Any place that has one price for every instructor will always have a problem finding real teachers who will work for them longer than a couple of months and it is my understanding that never in their 35 year history have they had an instructor who had any real skill or experience and the owner is too arrogant to consider fixing what they don't see as a problem since their clientele doesn't really know they are getting ripped off until long after they have spent a lot of money for nothing, Unfortunately, south Florida is completely polluted with this type of low quality and it is virtually impossible to find quality training in a store, school, academy etc. because all of the owners try to get away with what the other owners get away with instead of gong in the opposite direction and try to actually get a real teacher as part of the deal. You are much better off looking for an instructor yourself through craigslist and just avoid ANY salesmen from a facility or a telemarketer referral service because salesmen have no connections or credibility with real teachers. You are just never going to find a store selling you a $3000 Martin guitar for the same price as a $300 Seagull and the same is true for instructors. You are not going to have an instructor with over 20 years experience for the same price as an instructor with 20 minutes of experience but stores like this are arrogant enough to try while at the same time complain that they cannot find any real teachers who will stay with them. more

Family music lessons 10/7/2011

I've brought all eight of my kids to the tamarac store for lessons since 1990. l love that all of my kids enjoyed the same teacher. Each of my kids got lessons tailored to their individual needs and musical interests. I got peace of mind that they were getting a great experience, safe and friendly environment, and quality instruction from a degreed professional. PS. My sister has her 3 kids enrolled with the same fine teacher. more

They are a rental store which sucks for lessons 5/2/2011

While their rentals are about even with Music Tech, I am afraid that their lessons are too and that's not good but it isn't by accident. They advertise they have been teaching since 1976 as if that means that the BUILDING has been building up all of this experience while the staff has been a revolving door of part timers. When it comes to judging the quality of a facility's teaching staff, It is how long the TEACHER has been teaching that matters, NOT the BUILDING'S ADDRESS. It is very typical result of policies of facilities that view lessons as nothing more than a real estate deal and the most consistent red flags that would indicate that are their needless sign-up fees and pricing all teachers the same whether they have been teaching 30 years or 30 seconds. Instructors are obviously NOT interchangeable any more than guitars are but these types of facilities are always hoping to distract you from that ""oh duh"" until they have you signed up and locked into the facility not the teacher. Why this should matter to you is that you will end up paying for professional instruction but not only will you not receive it, you will be locked into poor training. There are likely only a couple of teachers of each instrument in south Florida who are really qualified to be charging the prices that these ""real estate"" facilities charge and they are not going to hand over half their paycheck to a greedy store so these facilities rely deceptive tricks to fool people who just don't know any better.. You are no more likely to find any of these instructors in these greedy facilities than you would find a $5000 Martin guitar at a store that sells all guitars for $1000. You wouldn't even find a $1000 in a place like that or even a $500 in place like this and while this is an ""oh duh"", greedy store owners find some way to convince themselves that it doesn't apply to music instructors. Or more precisely, that it's ok to try to mislead customers by passing off inexperienced instructors as the real thing. It's funny how all of these owners are ALWAYS complaining about their teachers and how they cannot seem to handle teaching AFTER they have been hyping these same teachers for months as as being able to teach anything. The main reason facilities charge registration fees is because they cannot keep most of their instructors much longer than a few months at a time and they want to lock you into the facility so that you do not leave with the instructors but students do not particularly appreciate always having to start over all of the time right when the students are finally starting to know them. When students start over with a new teacher who has NEVER taught in their entire lives, the prices do NOT drop. Quality of the lessons will plummet but not the price until you quit or wise up and find a REAL teacher but you will likely spend over a $1000 by that time and wasted months of effort. If you are lazy, don't want to talk to YOUR instructor BEFORE you sign up then you are GUARANTEED to be disappointed. If you value their 5X5 room for a half hour/hour per week as much as you value the quality of your instructor, then this the place to be. Their guitar and bass accessories, books are adequate but their prices are not great but I still prefer them to Guitar Center. more
