DO NOT GO!
Today is my boyfriend's birthday and we decided on going for dinner. After perusing the assortment at Restaurant (website) we decided on Aly Baba. It was something we had never tried before and it was right down the street.
The food was terrible at best. The folofals I liked, but my boyfriend couldn't stand them. We both liked the lintel soup though. Once we received our entrees, we were quickly disappointed. You tend to receive lamb med-rare to medium because of the toughness of the meat. My lamb was like charcoal briskets and obviously inedible. I didn't say anything mostly because I had a $25/$35 GC.
My boyfriend's kabobs were barely okay. It was sausage with a skewer through it and tasted as such. We rushed through what we could manage to eat of our rice and looked around for our server.
The lack of service has already been irritating us. The lady who only decided to come to our table when she wanted to had already been shown our gift certificate. We ask her opinion on the best dessert to make sure we hit the threshold and she disappears...for 15 minutes...again. We asked for the check at this point.
We received the bill and slid the GC into the holder along with my debit card. She came back nearly 20 minutes later AFTER CHARGING MY CARD and tells us that they do not honor the GC's anymore. She went on to explain that they had been trying to get into contact with Restaurant (website) to be removed from their site... Wouldn't this have been a great thing to have brought up before we even ordered?
Heed my warning too, that they charge the tip directly to you. There's still a place to ad a tip, but if you look at the bottom of the receipt they have already tacked on 20% gratuity. By this point, being its my boyfriend's birthday, he's pissed and walking out the door.
If you must experience how bad the service really is for yourself, be my guest. It will be a cold day in hell before you see me in there again.
