Al Diwan, Amazing Food 10/16/2009

This restaurant has exquisite Lebanese food. The staff is very friendly. The dim lights make it very romantic which sets a perfect scene for the belly dancers on Friday and Saturday nights. Hookahs are available if you like to smoke. My wife and I have been there multiple times since we found it over a year ago. We brought family and friends there and they loved it just as much as we do. I recommend Al Diwan to anybody and everybody who is looking for good food, a great atmosphere and beautiful entertainment. Pros: Excellant service and the food is absolutely delicious more

Wonderful Gem of a Restaurant/Lounge in NYC 10/14/2009

Last Friday, I was fortunate enough to stumble upon this excellent restaurant/lounge, and above all, a mecca of classy, sophisticated entertainment. Nestled humbly in Alphabet City/East Village, we were truly delighted to discover this jewel. Pros: Amazing Food/Talented Musical Entertainment more

Healthy food and a good time 6/17/2009

I've been to Al Diwan way too many times this past year. First I went there with family members to have a nice lunch and wow! what great food. The appetizers are the best in town, especially their hummus and the feta wrapped in filo bread- they are to die for! I've also been there at night time on a Saturday night, they had a belly dancer, everyone was dancing the night away. a great party place on the weekends. Pros: great hooka with real fruits, healthy food more

This one has it all. I went there with a big group last Saturday for my birthday. We had a great time and after all it was a blast and we had the best Lebanese dining experience ever. The food was amazing tabbouleh, hummos, authentic delicious Lebanese grilled dishes. Their hookah is great as well. The music, atmosphere, and the service are all excellent. I will definitely recommend this one. Pros: Food/Music/Price more

best healthy lebanese food in town 11/18/2008

I went to Al Diwan for dinner four weeks ago for the second time. I was amazed by all the food, my favourite was taboulah, hummus, falafel. I have tried most of the lebanese resturants in town, none compared to Al Diwan, the food was really amazing and don't forget the Mashawiy, the tender chicken, beef and koufta. The atmosphere and the decor is just beautiful. Service was really great and the prices are reasonable. I just can't wait to go back . Highly recommended. Pros: Great experience, exceeded our expectations. Going back soon!!! more

Went to Al Diwan a couple weeks ago and absolutely loved it. The food was fresh and delicious. The fatayer and hummos were my favorites. The tabouleh salad was amazing and I couldn't get enough. The extensive list of mezzes offered something for everyone that I was with. The atmosphere is totally charming. Its great place to meet with friends. I am definitely going back Pros: healthy, fresh food at a good price more

Delicious food and Friendly Staff 11/12/2008

We held a 90 person luncheon at this restaurant and the food was delicious and the service was awesome! The owners are super friendly and hospitable. The restaurant is big and does not feel cramped. Highly recommend this for big private parties! Fave foods: samboussik (like a mini beef patty) and the spicy american sausage Pros: Good food, friendly staff, good for big parties more

Beyond Words..... 8/19/2008

Let me tell you a little story about this fantastic eatery/smokery. Its Friday night, you just got home and your looking for a little something to wet your whistle. You think, hey maybe I'll walk down to Avenue C to check out Layala, I've heard nothing but good things. You traverse the 7 block walk in the pouring rain only to find out its more like hunka bunka than a place to eat. No go. Now what??? Ok be calm, we'll just walk over to Avenue A, maybe we'll get lucky and get a seat at Yuca Bar......nope 30 minute wait? You have to be kidding me. Now what? Ok so Im soaking wet, parched and starving. Still in the mood for some Lebanese and a hookah, in the back of my mind i realize that there is a new mediterannean spot just across the street from the homefront that could scratch that itch. But wait, its never crowded, it just opened and could be expensive. Ah well, lets give it a shot, now being the risk taker that I am but not wanting to throw away a friday night meal I was torn. We make the trek back around to 13th and A. And as I walk into Al Diwan a sudden calmness comes over my soul. This is it, this is where I was SUPPOSED to spend my friday night. 2 hours later the hookah was still rocking, the hummus blew my mind, and whatever it is that I had for dinner was perfect, although I couldn't finish it. The red was a classic Australian Cabernet Sauvignon with a very affordable price tag, For a young Cab, it produced a fresh, palate-friendly wine with soft tannins, boasting both visual and pairing appeal. Check. After our dining excursion we spoke with manager, ""Boss"" or somebody who clearly had some pull. Come to think of it, he may just have been the salad boy, but who knows. Anyways he was friendly serene gentleman who was ecstatic to here our comments about our delightful evening. In the back of my mind I was hoping he'd remember us for next time and perhaps comp us a free hookah or something. 1.5 thumbs up!! (lost half a thumb in 'nam."") more

Best Hookah Restaurant I've found in NYC 8/16/2008

So obviously the word isn't out on this place yet but it is AMAZING! We started with the hummus appetizer which was SO good. The vegetarian kebabs were a great choice and my friend had the beef and lamb shwarma and said it was amazing. That's not even mentioning the hookah. We had the fresh fruit and pineapple hookah, which I would highly reccommend! It lasted the entire meal and was still just as delicious at the end. The staff was friendly and attentive. I had a pinot grigio which came in a small glass and I mentioned to the waitress that the red wine was nearly twice the size so she brought my next glass of wine in the red wine glass - that's what I call customer service! Pros: The delicious food and hookah, great service Cons: It was pretty empty, so people come on get over there!!! more
